The Royal Caribbean Group’s Celebrity Cruises brand has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Manager, Entertainment Technical Operations on the Hotel Operations Team reporting to the VP, Entertainment.







This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida.







Position Summary:







The Manager, Entertainment Technical Operations is responsible for managing the overall daily technical operations and maintenance of all entertainment areas, venues and equipment including lighting, sound, rigging, video, projection, scenery and props for all shipboard entertainment areas and entertainment studios. Partners with Theatrical Production and Entertainment Experiences teams to ensure productions and entertainment experiences’ technical integrity are always maintained. Manager, Entertainment Technical Operations will provide leadership, guidance and training for all technical vendors, studio technicians, shipboard technicians and operators and will ensure performance, inventory and maintenance standards are maintained by all employees. Will oversee day to day operations of shipboard and shoreside technical operations. Works with technical, marine, and creative teams, install directors and producers to ensure highest levels of safety, quality and operation is always adhered to. Drives and manages creation of scenery, props, and programming of all technical elements for new entertainment installs. Oversees Technical budgets, CAR/DEAR budgets, Newbuild/Owners Supply and PO requests.







Essential Duties and Responsibilities:







Manages Technical Operations for all Celebrity vessels as it relates to stage automation and stage automation control systems, scenic design and fabrication, sound systems, lighting equipment and control systems, atmospheric A/V systems, special effects, performer flying systems, aerial apparatus and equipment, Stage Management positions, Technical Operators, Stage Staff, Technical Designers and vendors, audits and training, and maintenance of all technical systems both shipboard and shoreside.





Oversees development and implementation of technical operations policies and procedures for the Entertainment Technical Department. Oversees all SQM Policies and SOPs with Entertainment team, ensuring policies are evaluated and updated as needed.





Partnering with Marine Safety and as a top priority, remains vigilant and focused daily on all aspects of safety as it pertains to entertainment technical systems, technical training programs, aerial and stage automation systems, safety and awareness and wellness for Celebrity Technical Operations and performance teams in the studios and onboard our vessels.





Forecasts and manages annual Repair & Maintenance budgets and capital request projects. Creates and oversees Technical Owners Supply, supporting all BOH and FOH theatrical area purchasing and installation for all newbuild operations.





Monitors CAM and shipboard payroll costs associated with the movement and overlap of shipboard crew members, practicing financially efficient scheduling.





Oversees and hires industry-leading entertainment technical vendors and partners to support technical elements of award-winning entertainment for Celebrity vessels. Works with all technical vendors to schedule repair and maintenance work both onboard and for the rehearsal studios. Ensures all technical vendors understand onboard and studio policies and always adhere to these policies.





Develops and implements repair, maintenance, upgrades, installation and training for entertainment technical systems on vessels. Develops and improves consistent repair schedules and budgets for maintenance of onboard technical equipment and theatrical technical elements, including scenery and props.





Supports development of technical systems for all newbuild vessels. Commissions equipment for newbuild vessels, implementing logistics plans and leading installation of all new technical aspects of entertainment.





Partners with Theatrical Productions and Entertainment Experience teams to develop and produce industry-leading entertainment productions and experiences, advising on new production technology and liaising with partners for seamless and successful installation.

Develops and manages long-term plan to support development and evolution of entertainment product.





Prepares and presents capital requests for projects relating to the continued upgrading and evolution of the entertainment technology and equipment for the fleet.





Prepares for and conducts both studio and vessel audits to ensure safety procedures are always in place. Arranges and conducts training as needed for all technical teams to ensure they remain informed and updated with all safety procedures.





Ensures technical integrity standards are maintained for all production shows, theme events, entertainment experiences, atmospheric, pop-up and venue entertainment throughout the fleet.





Attends industry conventions, showcases and events, as needed, to ensure fleet has high-caliber staffing, equipment and technology.





Must have finger on pulse of new, cutting-edge national and international technology for entertainment to continuously develop new ways to bring technical value to venues throughout the fleet and for newbuild development.





Minimum Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:







A bachelor’s degree in Theatrical Management (stage, production, technical) or Technical Theatre from an accredited university or equivalent experience





Minimum four (4) years professional experience in technical theatre management with an emphasis on new technology





Intermediate to advanced knowledge of theatrical lighting, audio, rigging and stage automation systems





Experience developing and maintaining large productions and staffing schedules





Extensive experience forecasting, tracking and managing budgets and expenses





Strong negotiating skills with ability to achieve favorable business terms for the organization





Ability to write and create comprehensive reports, presentations, RFPs, contracts, business correspondence and department policies and procedures





Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from executive management, groups of managers, staff and guests





Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Office software





Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to tactfully communicate with a wide range of people including prospective employees, corporate executives and shipboard staff from all over the world





Proactive, forward-thinker who acts with a sense of urgency and is on the pulse of trends in entertainment technology





Able to interpret and execute a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form





Will be required to travel internationally approximately 30-40% of work-related time. This individual will work approximately 60-70% of time in the North Miami production studio.





Preferred Qualifications:







Technical theater management experience within the cruise industry





Inventory management and tracking experience





Experience working onboard a cruise ship
