- June 24, 2010 The final production of Wakasugi Hiroshi's last season as Artistic Director (Opera) will mark the world premiere of a newly commissioned opera: Rokumeikan. Wakasugi has poured all his energies into the project, for which he himself chose the text, the composer and the director. The original play is a masterwork by Mishima Yukio, which premiered November 27, 1956, at Dai-ichi Seimei Hall in a production commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Bungakuza theatre company.

- June 17, 2010 The SIS Company of Tokyo will present Edward Albee's A HOME AT THE ZOO next month. The production will be directed by renowned stage performer Tetsuya Chiba. It will star Shinichi Tsutsumi, Kyoko Koizumi, and Nao Omori, all well-known in Tokyo for their work in television, film, and stage projects. Opening night is set for June 17, and the production is scheduled to run through July 19 at Theatre Tram, a short distance from the Sangenjaya Station (Denen-toshi or Setagaya lines). High Rise Tower to Replace Tokyo's Kabukiza by Nicolas Coburn
- May 11, 2010 The Kabukiza, the 60-year-old premier home to Japanese kabuki drama, closed on Friday, April 30. Originally built in 1889, the theatre was destroyed twice by earthquake and war. It is now being razed to make room for a high rise tower. AFP reported an estimated 2,000 audience members at the final two performances.

NNTT Presents L'ELISIR D'AMORE at the Opera House, 4/15-4/25 by BWW

- April 15, 2010 L'elisir d'amore will be directed by Cesare Lieve, making his first appearance at the NNTT. There is great anticipation to see Lieve's rendering of this melodramma. Conducting will be Paolo Olmi, a man known for his masterful work in Italian opera. It will be Olmi's first return to the NNTT since 2002, some eight years ago. The role of Adina will be played by Tatiana Lisnic, who has worked with the Wiener Staatsoper as a permanent and guest artist since 2003. In the role of Nemorino will be Joseph Calleja, an artist currently performing in the great opera houses of Europe and scheduled soon to perform at New York's Metropolitan Opera.

The concert, presented in Tokyo and Osaka, was the first concert event in the history of Japanese theatre that features a whole program of music by a living American composer. Started March 12, 2010 at Tokyo's renowned Bunkamura Orchard Hall and followed by a run in Osaka, Wildhorn's music enchanted thousands of Japanese fans.
