Florida State College at Jacksonville students perform a sneak peek preview of La Caroline: A New Rock Opera before taking the show to France. The show was written by Florida State College professor, playwright and musician Jennifer Chase and plays tonight, June 15, 2012, at 8 p.m. at the Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts, located at 11901 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, Fla. Admission is free, but donations are welcome (suggested amount: $10).

When Craig Smith talks of the many reasons he bought the Alhambra in August of 2009, he often gets teary-eyed telling the story of his daughter, Macy's, first live theater experience almost 10 years ago - the Wizard of Oz at the Alhambra. So this summer has a special feel to it for Smith as the Alhambra opens its 2012 summer family show on June 6 with the Wizard of Oz.

Today, May 2 during Art Walk, Team Hayden will be celebrating Hayden's 1st birthday party fundraiser at the Florida Theatre from 5-8pm. There will be live music from Grandpa's Cough Medicine, a massive silent auction/raffle, free libations, lots of birthday cake and more. Proceeds from this event will help with the over $3,000 a month in medical and therapy costs for Hayden.

Craig Smith, Managing Partner of the new Alhambra Theatre & Dining, announced that Joyce DeWitt will star in Sam Bobrick's romantic comedy, REMEMBER ME. Miss DeWitt is most widely known to audiences for her starring role as 'Janet Wood' in the ABC Television hit series THREE'S COMPANY. DeWitt has worked both as actress and director in a stage career which spans over forty years. She recently starred in A SCATTERED, SMOTHERED AND COVERED CHRISTMAS MUSICAL and the Canadian productions of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize-winning play DINNER WITH FRIENDS and Alfred Uhry's Tony Award-winning play THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO. Other recent stage performances include the North American premiere of the Australian comedy DAYLIGHT SAVINGS, the British farce NOISES OFF, the revival of Cole Porter's ANYTHING GOES, and the Broadway musical OLYMPUS ON MY MIND, for which she completed the cast recording - her first record album.

Alhambra's THE WIZARD OF OZ to Raise Funds for Community PedsCare Program

Today in a meeting with staff, Alhambra managing partner Craig Smith announced that the entire run of the summer show, Wizard of Oz, will be a fundraiser for the Community PedsCare Program of Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. The fundraiser will take many forms: Upon purchasing tickets, patrons will be invited to contribute $1 - $5 to the charity.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is known for both concert and swing dance engagements. Formed by popular demand in 1956, the band has been touring consistently, playing an average of 300 live dates a year around the globe to millions of fans. Led by musical director Nick Hilscher, the band remains devoted to the Miller sound, interpreting such standards as "String of Pearls," "Tuxedo Junction," "Little Brown Jug," and, of course, "Pennsylvania 6-5000."

On April 11, for the first time ever, BUDDY - THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY will play at America's longest running professional theater, the Alhambra Theatre & Dining, giving the Jacksonville market a chance to learn about and celebrate the life of the man who changed music forever. Judy Collins' career has spanned more than 50 years. At 13, Judy Collins made her public debut performing Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos, but it was the music of such artists as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, as well as the traditional songs of the folk revival, that sparked Judy's love of lyrics. She soon moved away from the classical piano and began her lifelong love for the guitar. Judy has continued her impressive musical career with an extensive catalog from every decade throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and up to the present.
