It is 1978, a year after the political turnabout that brought the Likud Party to power in Israel. On their crumbling farm Ze’eva and her son Dov are trying to survive despite the ravages of time and the economy. They are surrounded by the longstanding hostility of their labor movement neighbors and are shunned by their Herut movement comrades, their erstwhile brothers in arms from the Etzel and Lehi underground movements, who until only recently were flesh of their flesh. The surprising return from America of the younger son Nerik perhaps marks the onset of a change for the better, or maybe the opposite, the family’s inevitable final hour.
