A Master Class With Carrie St. Louis at Habima National Theater!

Carrie St. Louis (Rock of Ages, Wicked) was invited to the Habima National Theater to lead a master class in musicals! I was fortunate to be able to attend, and can convey that the experience was amazing!

The master class began with a short interview hosted by Isaac Sutton, her musical partner in the Broadway Israel Show. Carrie answered a variety of questions, both personal and professional. She gave the actors in the class tips for a good audition, and provided some of the 'behind the scenes' stories of Broadway, as well. It was all very exciting!

Afterwards, Ms. St. Louis worked with several people from the audience on an individual basis, giving them valuable voice tips. Many actors arrived to the Habima National Theater prepared to write down every word spoken by this charming, talented - and modest - Broadway star.

We have been experiencing a renaissance of musicals in Israel. The field is flourishing here, and dozens of musicals are presented at the same time. Musicals, now more than ever, speak to Israelis. I have no doubt that we will see dozens more collaborations with actors form Broadway arriving in Israel to work and - if we're so lucky - to hopefully share their expertise with those being educated on the topic here.
