Celebration Theatre in collaboration with Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church will present the regional premiere of STANDING ON CEREMONY: THE GAY MARRIAGE PLAYS , August 11 - September 29, 2013.

STANDING ON CEREMONY consists of nine short plays including "The Revision" by Jordan Harrison, "This Flight Tonight" by Wendy McCloud, "The Gay Agenda" by Paul Rudnick, "On Facebook" by Doug Wright, "Strange Fruit" by Neil LaBute, "A Traditional Wedding" by Mo Gaffney, "My Husband" by Paul Rudnick, "London Mosquitoes" by Moises Kaufman, and "Pablo and Andrew at the Altar of Words" by Jose Rivera.

Each play represents the issue of gay marriage from a different standpoint. Some of the plays are hilariously comic, some are poignant, and all are extremely moving as they respond to one of the defining issues of our time - the quest for marriage equality throughout America!

Two little words, and suddenly your whole world changes. This evening of vignettes by an A list line up of writers with 2 Pulitzer Prizes, 4 Obies, 1 Emmy, and 2 Tony Award Nominations is not to be missed. They offer their unique take on the moments before, during, and after "I do." Witty, warm, and occasionally wacky these plays are vows to the blessings of equality, the universal challenges of relationships, and the often hilarious power of love.

STANDING ON CEREMONY is directed by Ron Jones and features some of Houston's finest actors, including Marcy Bannor, Pablo Bracho, Jennifer Doctorovich, Terry Jones, Tamara Siler, Randall Jobe, Elizabeth Marshal Black, and Jimmy Phillips. Performances begin with a $10. preview on August 22, 2013 and continue until September 29, 2013 with performances on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. All regular tickets are $20. The six actor cast will change on September 13, and a brand new cast will take over!
