This is Ars Electronica's first appearance in the German capital. 350 guests gathered in Automobil Forum Unter den Linden for the vernissage of "Poetry of Motion." Several of the artists whose works are featured in this exhibition were also in attendance. Audience members encountered a fascinating synthesis of art, science and socio-cultural development.
Many of the prizewinning works on display feature interaction with those partaking of them. At one installation, adults were seated on a pile of confetti and tossing it in the air, to which the object "Garden" reacts by making flowers grow and bloom amidst the paper rain. Quite a line formed in front of Belgian artist Lawrence Malstaf's "Nemo Observatorium"-inside a sealed-off space, visitors could experience what it's like in the eye of a hurricane.
The exhibition - curated by Ars Electronica - with works by artists from Europe, Japan and the USA is being presented in this constellation for the first time and runs until September 5, 2010 at Automobil Forum Unter den Linden. Admission is free of charge.
