Entering time fort which is dedicated this fall in Paris, Maguy Marin comes with the Ballet de l ' Opéra de Lyon for the first time at Chaillot, and signed with Cinderella one of his greatest masterpieces. A wonderful gift!
For modern-day fairy tale, Cinderella of Maguy Marin was, at the time of its creation in 1985, a sort of revolution for the Ballet of the Opera of Lyon. For the first time, one of the headlights of the new wave of dance, May B author, among others, was attacking a re-reading of one of the most popular classics of the ballet world.
Under his direction, Cinderella and his family become dolls life size, the masked face, the hesitant approach. Maguy Marin mingled with a grotesque choreography, musicality and storytelling verve.
On the music of Prokofiev, the Cinderella of this version revolt rather than it is: Maguy Marin and wondered about the child in all of us share. This definitely modern heroine has, since its inception, conquered the world, the Ballet of the Opera of Lyon who triumphed from East to West.
Paradoxically, Paris was little seen this years classic dance. Suffice to say that the coming of Cinderella at Chaillot will again make the hearts beat.
