Mark Envelope: “Unnatural Acts / AEA Member”.

In this theatrical retelling of a true story, Harvard University’s administration has set up a secret court to determine what is taking place in Perkins Hall, room 28. Behind those doors, eleven young men will discover themselves, their sexuality and an implacable intolerance that will forever alter their lives.

Equity Principal Auditions were held in June 2010. Still seeking the following only. Please read the descriptions carefully, and submit only if you are right for one or more roles and available throughout the contract dates.

General Note: All actors must have strong improvisational skills and be able to handle stylized and abstract choreography. Special skills in musical instruments (i.e. piano, clarinet, guitar, harmonica, etc.) and singing are a plus.

Kenneth Day:

Man, early 20s. Hard-working but mediocre student; extremely athletic; masculine; classically handsome; invincible; a member of the track team and an avid boxer; secretly struggles with alcohol abuse. Actor must be comfortable with nudity and sexual situations. Must be well built. Archetype: The Adonis.

Keith Smerage:

Man, early 20s. Aspiring actor; sensitive; relentlessly optimistic; exudes a sensual charm; middle-class; works as a waiter to earn tuition money. Actor must be strong with Shakespearean text and comfortable with nudity and sexual situations. Archetype: The Dreamer.

Joseph Lumbard:

Man, early 20s. Good-natured; genuinely curious and intrigued by the world around him; has a strong gut sense of justice; enjoys a good debate; sexually uncertain. Archetype: The Straight-Laced One.

Eugene Cummings:

Man, mid 20s. Dental student; brooding but likable; small town kid with big ambition; sensitive; brotherly; empathetic; articulate; exhibits a fierce but quiet determination; functions as the play’s narrator. Archetype: The Everyman.

Nathaniel Wollf:

Man, mid - late 20s. Son of wealthy banker; pre-med student; member of Dramatic Club; passionate; fought in The Great War; masculine; well-spoken; gregarious; a liberal thinker with a predisposition to politics. Actor must be strong with Shakespearean text and comfortable with nudity and sexual situations. Archetype: The Thrill-Seeker.

Harold Saxton:

Man, late 20s. Lives at home with mother; young soul; tutor to undergraduates; well-groomed, with an impeccable sense of style; carefree to the point of frivolity; falls in love too easily; a social butterfly; borderline effeminate; a pacifist. Archetype: The Peter Pan.

Ernest Roberts:

Man, early 20s. Son of a former congressman; wealthy; affluent; confident; decadent; at times lavishly flamboyant; mischievous; exudes a wild, sexual charge; socially savvy. Archetype: The Ring Leader.

Lester Wilcox:

Man, 30. Brother of deceased Cyril Wilcox; served in the Navy during The Great War; highly intelligent; masculine; methodical; grief-stricken; a staunch believer in justice; possesses an unpredictable temper; homophobic. Archetype: The Avenger.
