Seeking:
No roles will be understudied.
Hal Walker: A mystery writer. The hard-boiled detective stories he writes are a cut above — but he hasn’t been able to write at all since his wife’s death. A good writer, when he’s able. Unshaven and skinny, like he’s been subsisting for months on whiskey and nightmares. He/him. Late 30s/early 40s. Any race or ethnicity.
Brett Martin: An editor for a mid-sized publishing company. Very comfortable in the chair. Genuinely loves literature and writers. Has a special place in their heart for Hal. 40s-60s. Any race, ethnicity, gender expression, or disability.
Donnie Lawrence: Real estate agent. You can tell right off he makes his living selling something. Clawed his way up in the world, and enjoys wielding the power that wealth brings him. He/him. Late 30s/early 40s. Any race or ethnicity.
Miriam Lawrence: Donnie Lawrence’s daughter. 16+ to play 15. Too young and too old at the same time. Loves her Dad. She/her. Any race or ethnicity.
Hayden Quinn: Detective. Chin high but dragging every loss behind like an albatross. Comes out swinging. 30s-50s. Any race, ethnicity, or gender expression.
