Breakdown

Auditions and callback will be at North Coast Repertory Theatre. Auditions are slated for September 11 and callbacks for Sept 12. These are the ONLY dates we will be seeing actors.

THIS character breakdown:

JANE, Caucasian, thirty- eight. A poet and mother, Jane earns her living teaching and proctoring exams. Widowed for almost a year, she is disconnected, almost floating through her day-to-day existence. She is extremely likeable and everyone believes she possesses some kind of wisdom about life. Underneath it all, she’s not really okay, and failing at keeping it all together.

MARRELL, African-American, thirty-eight, plays piano. A sleep-deprived new mother, jazz singer & songwriter, Marrell is unhappy with her marriage and longs for something more in the love and sex department. Sensible and candid, she is a quick-witted when engaged in verbal battles. The lack of sleep uncovers some raw nerves.

TOM, Caucasian, early forties, carpenter. A sleep-deprived new father, Tom is restless and frustrated. He is unhappy in his marriage and with himself. His sleep-deprivation makes him question his relationships and priorities. He is insecure about his lack of ivy-league education and his inability to launch a successful business. He tends to wear the persona of the stoic woodworker or the martyred artist.

ALAN, Jewish, forties, gay, a professional mnemonist. Alan is looking for another, perhaps his true, calling. He enjoys a good bottle of alcohol, is quick-witted and “subversive by impulse and lazy by nature."

JEAN-PIERRE, French, late thirties. A Doctor- Without- Boarders, Jean-Pierre is charming and attractive with the right amount of European arrogance. He knows what his priorities are and doesn’t worry about the small stuff. Speaks French.
