INSTRUCTIONS

Please submit a picture and resume, two contrasting songs and a short monologue. A hysterical satire of the sexual revolution of the 1970s, this musical takes place on Christmas Eve in suburban Trenton, New Jersey, where two married couples who have been close friends since high school find themselves contemplating a ménage-à-quatre.

Monica 30 - 50. - Wally’s wife. Sexy, attractive more worldly than Cleo. Mezzo.

Cleo: 30 – 50. – CAST - Alvin’s wife, nice, innocent and naive girl next door. Mezzo.

Wally: 30-50. CAST - Monica’s husband. Handsome, thinks he’s more worldly and hip than he actually is. Baritone.

Alvin: 30-50. CAST - Cleo’s husband. Neurotic and nervous. Think George Costanza! Baritone or Tenor.

When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past—and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives. Southern accents (North Carolina) needed.

Alice Murphy: Both 16-17 and 36-37. Female. Alice at age 36-37 is an editor of a southern literary magazine: intelligent, attractive, professional – but with an air of melancholy. The same actress will also play Young Alice at age 16-17, rebellious, high-spirited, adventurous – looking to break out of small-town life and experience the world. Very strong singer and comfortable in folk and bluegrass styles. Mezzo-Soprano. Southern accent.

Jimmy Ray Dobbs: Both age 18-20 and 38-40. Male. Jimmy Ray in his early 20’s in flashbacks is Mayor Dobbs’ son and young Alice’s beau; handsome, boyishly charming, well-built and intelligent; from a family of wealth and power and is being groomed by his father for a similar future in the family business; an independent thinker who is not afraid to stand up to his father for what he believes in; he has a sense of personal responsibility and morality as well as a deep reserve of passion and emotion. The same actor will also play an adult Jimmy Ray at age 38-40. Tenor. Southern accent.

Billy Cane: 19 - 29. Male. A young soldier returning home from WWII; an aspiring young writer; fresh, open, optimistic, charming, and a little naïve. Tenor. Southern accent.

Daddy Cane: 55 - 65. Male. Billy’s father. A widower. Spry, good looking. Kindhearted, if a bit lonely. Tenor. Southern accent.

Margo Crawford: 19 - 29. Female. A small-town bookstore owner; a childhood friend of Billy’s who now harbors romantic feelings towards him; a natural beauty with a keen intellect. Soprano. Southern accent.

Daryl Ames: 25 - 39. Male. An assistant at a literary magazine store; funny, with a dry and officious sense of humor; insecure, and perhaps a bit socially awkward, but endearing and innately likable; some character singing required but not a major singing role; should be able to move well. Tenor, Baritone. Southern accent.

Lucy Grant: 25 - 39. Female. A junior editor at a literary magazine; an ambitious, professional young modern career woman of the 1940s; sexy, forthright, and provocative with a sharp sense of humor; must be able to vocally carry a big up tempo foot stopping drinking song and dance/move very well. Soprano. Southern accent.

Mama Murphy: 50 - 65. Male. Alice’s mother. A caretaker to her family and her rural community. A warm, loving, sensible woman. Hardworking, with great inner strength and compassion. Mezzo-Soprano. Southern accent.

Daddy Murphy: 50 - 65. Male. Alice’s father; an authoritative and a stern disciplinarian; devoutly religious, hard-working, a poor but proud farmer. Baritone. Southern Accent.

Mayor Dobbs: 50 - 65. Male. The Mayor of Zebulon; a political and financial powerbroker -- distinguished, even elegant, an imposing and controlling presence; has a genuine interest in protecting his son's future and his family name, but in doing so, is ultimately pushed to a point of extreme and irrevocable cruelty. Baritone. Southern Accent.

CAMELOT (SMALL CAST VERSION) – Book & Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, Music by Frederick Loewe.
1st rehearsal: February 28, 2022.
Runs March 10 – 13 and 17 - 20 at 7:30, March 12, 13, 19, 20 at 2:00, 2022.

An idealistic young King Arthur hopes to create a kingdom built on honor and dignity, embodied by his Knights of The Round Table. His Ideals, however, are tested when his lovely queen, Guenevere, falls in love with the young Knight, Lancelot, and the fate of the kingdom hangs in the balance.

Arthur 22 - 35. - “The once and future king” Ruler of Camelot. He served as a simple squire until he managed to pull King Pendragon’s sword out of the stone and became King. He desires to rule fairly and create a land where justice and honor are held in high esteem. Arthur is wise, generous, compassionate, and boyish. Rather unsure of himself, yet an inspiration to others. Baritone. Top vocal range: Eb4. Bottom range: A2

Guenevere 22 – 35 - Queen of Camelot. A young, spirited woman who is quite caught up in chivalry and the exciting possibilities of a promising life. At first, she did not want to marry Arthur, but when she met him and saw the beauty of Camelot, she fell in love. She is devoted to Arthur and supports his causes. She is very much thrown by the arrival of Lancelot. The start of the famous “love triangle.” Soprano. Top vocal range: A5. Bottom range: B3.

Lancelot: 22 - 35. An abundantly self-assured knight from France and a skilled warrior, Lancelot comes to be a Knight of the Round Table. He is extremely pious and not particularly well liked by anyone except Arthur. He is a passionate disciple of Arthur and his Round Table. Lancelot is “the greatest knight in the world,” whose only weakness is his love for Guenevere. Baritone. Top vocal range: B4. Bottom range: A2

Mordred: 22 - 30. A truly evil young man who was “sired” by Arthur when the king was young and naive. He is a thoroughly and fascinatingly unlikable fellow. His mother is Queen Morgause, who bewitched Arthur when he was younger. Mordred has come to the Round Table to stir up trouble. Baritone. Top vocal range: D4. Bottom range: C3.

Sir Dinadan, Sir Sagramore, Tom, Sir Lionel: 22 - 39. - Knights who serve Arthur. All devoted to Guenevere. Tenor, Baritone.


BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY – Book by Marsha Norman, Music & Lyrics by Jason Robert Brown.
1st rehearsal: April 11, 2022.
Runs April 21 – 24 and 24 – May 1 at 7:30, April 23, 24, May 1 at 2:00, 2022.

Francesca Johnson, a beautiful Italian woman who married an American soldier to flee war-ravaged Italy, looks forward to a rare four days alone on her Iowa farm when her family heads to the 1965 State Fair. When a ruggedly handsome, National Geographic photographer Robert Kincaid pulls into her driveway seeking directions, what happens in those four days may very well alter the course of Francesca’s life.

Francesca Johnson: 40 – 55. A beautiful, luminous, and funny Italian woman now married to a farmer and living in Iowa with two children. Mezzo, range, G3-Gb5. Italian accent.

Robert Kincaid: 45 - 55. CAST - A rugged handsome, worldly, visionary photographer. Tenor, range, B2-A4.

Richard “Bud” Johnson: 40-50. Francesca's husband. An Iowa farmer, a good guy, diligent and dependable, but always exhausted and irritated that things haven't gotten easier. Baritone, range, C3-F#4.

Marian/Chiara: 30-40. Marian - Robert's former wife, a musician. Mezzo, range, A3-D5. Chiara - Francesca’s sister still living in Italy. Mezzo, range, A3-D5. Italian accent.

Michael: 19-25. Francesca and Bud's son. Tenor, range, E3-G#4.

Carolyn: 19-25. Francesca and Bud's daughter. Mezzo, range, A3-C5.

Marge: 40-60. Francesca's sassy, nosy neighbor; range, G3-C5.

Charlie: 40-60. Marge's husband; range, E3-C4.
