Seeking:
Nina:
(late teens to early 20s) Any ethnicity. A very young actress capable of astonishing depth and honesty. Nina is fragile but headstrong. Emotional, willful, romantic, charming. Over the course of the play she goes from a girl on the cusp of womanhood, in love with love and art, naive and starry-eyed to a woman desperate, lost and longing for the childhood she left behind. Should have grace and beauty but must be able to capture the spirit of a girl at the beginning of the play.
Treplev:
(early 20s to late 20s) Any ethnicity. A young actor who can play the youthful artist, full of ideals, creativity, fun and mischief – as well as the tortured one, faced with the futility of art and love in a world where commerce and style reigns and runs roughshod over those with more fragile souls.
