Based on the triumphant true story of a group of British miners from northern England in the 1930s and 1940s, who discover a new way to express themselves … and unexpectedly become art-world sensations.

Still seeking the following only (read notice carefully; submit only if you are right for one/more of these roles, and you are available to audition in NYC, and you are free to work throughout the contract dates):

Young Lad / Ben Nicholson:

One actor plays both roles, 20s. Actor must be excellent with dialects. Young Lad: Energetic, eager to learn and to work. Not the brightest light, but inquisitive and direct. Practical and honest to a fault. Working-class British accent. Ben: City artist who is dependent on others to pay his way, and is therefore not as engaged. Has arrived to his station through his art as a means to an end -- a bit of an opportunist. Knows his position and how to maintain it. Proper British accent.

Oliver Kilbourn:

30s. Complicated personality -- both vulnerable and defensive -- derived from lack of opportunity, rather than any bitterness towards his station in life. Dry sense of humor. Uncertain of self, but responsible. At first shy and inexperienced, but gains confidence and finds his voice through the art. Looks fit, from hard work in the mines. Working-class British accent.

Robert Lyon:

Late 30s - mid-40s. Natural born teacher. Privileged, but neither conceited nor condescending. Ambitious to move up the artistic ladder. Frustrated artist. Has a tweedy English handsomeness. Posh British accent
