re: “ANNE FRANK (name of role) – AEA member self submit”

Submission is by mail only. Absolutely no emails, phone calls or office visits!

Be sure to put the title of the show and the role you're interested in on the front of the envelope.

Please read notice carefully, and submit ONLY if you are right for one of more roles.

Note – No German or Dutch dialects – we will use standard Mid-Atlantic American.
Seeking adult Equity actors for all roles, including Peter and Anne. Mr and Mrs. Van Daan, Mr. Dussel, Margot and Mr. Kraler have been cast. All roles below are Jewish except for Miep who is Dutch Christian.

There will be approximately 50 performances at IRT, split equally between matinees and evenings.

There is a two week hiatus between these engagements. Those cast must do both engagements of this co-production. Indiana does allow pets in their apartments. Pioneer does not.

Seeking:

Anne:

18+ to play a character that ages from 13-15 over the course of the play. Dark in coloring; a charismatic chatterbox smart, curious, feminine, strong-willed, boisterous, rebellious, occasionally bratty and combative, manipulative. Doesn’t have to beautiful, but probably does need to be small (she starts out as an exuberant child).

Otto Frank:

40s, early 50s. Tall, thin; intellectual. A businessman; shrewd but compassionate. Calm, centered, intentional, warm, caring a listener; fair-minded.

Mrs. Frank:

Early 40s. A bit nervous, loving but reserved from a wealthy family; probably not a beauty given to depression and anxiety; serious, a bit haunted.

Peter Van Daan:

18+ to play a character that ages from 16-18 over the course of the play. Introspective; attractive, shy, awkward, sensitive, smart, but masculine.

Miep:

Late 20s, early 30s (reading older than Margot, younger than Mrs. Frank). She's warm, generous, lively but focused, a calming presence small in stature perhaps; busy; determined; not a martyr.
