SYNOPSIS: Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python, and you have The 39 Steps – a fast-paced whodunit packed with nonstop laughs and over 150 characters played by a ridiculously talented cast of four.
All roles open to actors of all backgrounds. Strong physical comedy and timing are essential.
Richard Hannay: (Male-presenting, 30s–40s) The suave, stoic hero on the run. Must have excellent comic timing and a touch of charm.
The Woman: (Female-presenting, 20s–40s) Multiple female roles, including Pamela, Annabella, and Margaret. A chameleon with range and wit.
Clown 1: (Any gender) Transforms into dozens of characters with lightning-fast changes and big physicality.
Clown 2: (Any gender) Equally versatile and essential to the show’s fast-paced humor and storytelling.
