Performances are in a modern, open-air tent theatre in Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT.

No appointment necessary. The producer will run all aspects of this call. Equity audition procedures will NOT be in effect, and no Equity Monitor will be provided.

Please prepare two contrasting 16-bar selections from or in the style of the shows. Bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist is provided, but may not transpose. Some may be asked to demonstrate dancing skills; be prepared to move as part of your audition.

Please bring a recent picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

Callbacks: 4/23, 3-7 (CAROUSEL); 4/30, 2:30-6:30 (CHARLIE).

All dates are in 2011. All roles/ensemble positions are available. Note: No housing is available to out-of-area performers (i.e. those who reside more than 50 miles driving distance from the Theatre).

Carousel Music: Richard Rodgers. Book/Lyrics: Oscar Hammerstein II. Dir: Allegra Libonati.

Choreo: Doug Shankman. 1st reh: 6/27. Rehearses M-Sa 10:30-5, Su 1-5. Runs Th-Su 7/16-8/6.

Note: All cast members must be good singers. Some chorus/ensemble dancing.

Billy Bigelow:

25-35. Strong-willed, macho. Conflicted and confused about how to show love. Baritone (high G).

Julie Jordan:

18-28. Naïve, vulnerable, with an underlying strength of character. Soprano.

Carrie Pipperidge:

18-28. Carrie’s friend. Combines humor and warmth. Alto.

Nettie Fowler:

30-55. Julie’s older cousin. Caring, good-natured. Mezzo (high G).

Enoch Snow:

22-32. Gawkish, straitlaced. Tenor (high A).

Jigger Craigin:

25-35. Smooth-talking sailor, sure of himself. Scoundrel. Baritone.

Mrs. Mullin:

35-55. Jealous, widowed carousel owner.

David Bascombe / HS Principal:

40-70. Rich owner of the Bascombe Cotton Mills.

Policeman / Starkeeper / Dr. Seldon:

40-60.

First Heavenly Friend:

25-70.

Louise:

18-25. Tomboy. Strong-willed. Excellent ballet dancer needed.

Enoch Snow, Jr.

16-18. Enoch’s son, Gawkish, straitlaced like his father.

Eight Snow Children:

Various ages (4-14). Singers/dancers.

Carnival Boy:

18-24. Reminiscent of Billy when he was young. Strong dancer/partner with Louise,

Searching for how to be a “good man”. Insecure. Thoughtful. Baritone (high F).

Lucy van Pelt:

Strong-willed, takes over. Alto (belt to Eb).

Linus van Pelt:

Lucy’s younger brother. Sensitive. Intelligent. Baritone (high E).

Schroeder:

Speaks out. High energy. Tenor (high Ab).

Sally Brown:

Charlie’s younger sister. Determined. Soprano (high Bb).

Snoopy:

High energy and high drama. Tenor (high A).

Train: (1 hour NYC) Metro North to Stamford CT. Change for New Canaan. Theatre studios across street from train station. Auto: (1 hour NYC): New England Thruway (95) north to exit 15, Rt. 7 extension, take exit 3 Merritt Parkway South to exit 37. Left off exit to center of New Canaan, left on Elm St. 1.5 blocks to studios, adjacent to Stewarts Market on right.
