For an appointment, call 786/468-2283. Equity Members without appointments will be seen throughout the audition day, as time permits.

Please prepare two 16-bar selections: one that showcases a contemporary Broadway vocal sound and one that shows an edgier “rock 'n' roll” sound. Be prepared to sing an entire song, if requested. Bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist provided. If auditioning for the role of Penelope, one selection should be a Gospel-type song.

In addition to singing, auditioning performers will read from the script. Sides will be e-mailed (or mailed or faxed, if necessary) to performers who make appointments.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

Callbacks are planned for May 4th.

High adventure and high comedy are tied together in this rock musical. It's an original spin on Homer's classic tale for families to enjoy together. The Arsht Center will bring Miami-Dade county students to the Center, free of charge, to experience the show.

Seeking a cast of men and women who sing very well and move well. Actors should be able to sing in a contemporary Broadway “rock” style. All roles are available:

Odysseus:

Mid - late 30s. Vain and self-centered hero -- a powerful, muscular warrior with a big ego. Actor should have a strong singing voice with a rock 'n' roll edge. Actor engages in choreographed stage combat.

Zeus:

30s - 50s. Father of all the Greek gods. Actor should have good comic timing and a booming bass voice.

Telemachus:

Seeking actor 18+ to play 16. Odysseus's son. Angst-filled teenager in a hurry to grow up. Actor should have boy-band looks and a voice to match. Actor engages in choreographed stage combat.

Penelope:

Mid - late 30s. Odysseus's wife. Strong, smart and beautiful. Actress should possess a strong, soulful voice; Gospel singers are encouraged to audition. Actress also plays Circe, a mischievous and sensual goddess.

Athena:

20s. The beautiful goddess of war. Has empathy for Odysseus, and pleads his case to her father, Zeus. Strong alto belt. Actress also plays the goddess Calypso, an airhead type, obsessed with Odysseus.

Hermes:

20-30s. Our narrator, the messenger god who jumps in and out of the action of the play. Seeking a skilled comic actor with a great singing voice; should have several different comic characters inside of him (like Robin Williams). Actor engages in choreographed stage combat.

Poseidon:

20s-early 40s. Our villain, the god of the seas. Hates Odysseus's boldness. Poseidon uses his powers to keep our hero away from his home and family for 16 years. Actor should be able to sing like Elvis (or some other iconic rock figure). Actor also plays the Cyclops, a boisterous one-eyed monster in a full-body puppet. Actor engages in choreographed stage combat.

Three Men:

Track age ranges: 20s-30s. Play Odysseus's men and Penelope's suitors: Nestor, Seymour, Melanthius, Ajax, Agamemnon and Antinous.Seeking strapping comic actors. Should be able to play multiple roles convincingly, have great timing and be able to perform physical comedy and light slapstick. Should move well and sing very well. They also operate puppets. One of these men will play the comedic role of Aeolus, the very, very old god of the winds. These actors engage in choreographed stage combat.

Notes: The producer plans to utilize stage-fighting, stage fog, haze, pyrotechnics and strobe lights in this production. Actors' voices will be amplified. Actors may participate in talkbacks with students.
