SEEKING:

Mark Rothko:

(Male, 50s-60s). Legendary American painter in the Abstract Expressionist movement. Jewish-American of Russian birth, yet he possesses no accent, save for a hint of his New York home. Driven, imposing, charismatic. Focused, to the point of myopia, he cares only about his work, his ideas about art. Controlling of himself, his environment, and anyone who works for him. The actor must be powerful, have great passion as well as facility with language and, once he takes up a paint brush, a great ability to move with freedom and conviction.

Ken:

(Male, early 20s). Rothko’s latest assistant. A young artist caught in Rothko’s tornado. Begins tentatively, but, in time, displays great passion, intellect and guts. A very strong, inventive young actor who has great facility with language and movement. A talent for carpentry would be a plus.
