Rothko:
Caucasian male. He should be a compelling, but not necessarily handsome man in his 50s; his disheveled appearance and passionate outbursts belie his exacting and sober intellect. He should be strong vocally, and physically fit (that does not necessarily mean well built). Someone who has the energy and agility to paint works of this scope.
Ken:
Caucasian male, mid/late 20s. There is something underdeveloped, immature and “needy” about this young man, given his past, but he is an artist in his own right and a survivor who can stand up to the rigors of being Rothko’s assistant.
