Authentic, humorous and compelling drama about the human condition in which two leukemia patients share a series of encounters, forcing them to confront love, regret, life and death, while their doctor deals with a midlife crisis, their sassy nurse tries to heal the world while refusing to deal with her own issues, and a chorus of former patients oversee it all.
Seeking:
Michael Domani:
Man, 30s, any ethnicity. Leukemia patient; sincere, quirky, earnest, charming. Strong sense of humor. His eagerness stems from a sense of nothing to lose, including his health.
Dr. Greg Bestar:
Man, 40s - early 50s, any ethnicity. Leukemia specialist in a mid-life crisis. Warm, empathetic, dedicated. Emotionally complicated, trying to hold it together
Lucille:
Woman, late 20s - early 30s, any ethnicity. Nurse. Former beauty queen. Sassy, take-charge, yet vulnerable. Wants to be liked. Out to heal the world, but having trouble fixing her own problems. The play’s conscience.
Woman:
Plays multiple characters, mid 20s – 40, any ethnicity. Seeking an inventive character actress with multiple voices and physicality. Delivers monologues based on real leukemia patients, including a middle-aged Long Island woman and a 20something MBA professional, as well as hospital staff in the narrative thread.
Man:
Plays multiple characters, mid 20s – 40, any ethnicity. Seeking an inventive character actor with multiple voices and physicality; delivers monologues based on real leukemia patients, including a 40-year-old man and a young boy, as well as hospital staff in the narrative thread.
