Chief Bromden:
Male, a huge bull-muscled Indian man, stands 6’6”but carries himself like a small man when around other people. Pretends to not be able to hear or speak, but watches everything around him meticulously. He observes the action from his drug induced state and narrates
Nurse Ratched:
Female, in her 50s, a handsome and imposing woman. She is an ex-army nurse. Although she is in her fifties, she has something ageless looking about her. She is ever-smiling, cold, flat no nonsense woman who controls her ward with authority. She speaks precisely, smoothly always one step ahead of the doctors, patients and staff. Everyone is afraid of her.
Randle P. McMurphy:
Male, late 30s, devilish grin, has a wide-open, extroverted air, has a big thunderous laugh, very sure of himself – a little too much testosterone. Rough, weathered looking - strong. Has been in and out of jail his entire life. Managed to get committed to the mental hospital to get out of work farm detail. He takes over any room he’s in – despite his selfishness he has a warmth and at times is often the hero to the other patients. Large personality.
Dale Harding:
Male, in his late 30s – 40s, handsome, effete. Professorial, well educated, pompous, extremely disdainful and insecure. President of the Patients’ Council. Obsessed with his inability to sexually satisfy his wife. Paranoid. Hides his hands when he talks for fear of them floating away.
Cheswick:
Male, 40s – 50s short, chubby, crew-cut, his manner alternately truculent and cringing, has childish fits of temper periodically.
Martini:
Male, 40s-50s short Italian man, eager and bright-eyed, hallucinates often, moves quickly- a jibbering little rodent
