Please indicate in your email, on your fax, or on the envelope “Casting: MACBETH/RICHARD II”, and the role(s) you are submitting for.

Deadline for submissions: 9/20/10.

Seeking actors with strong classical experience (rotating repertory experience a plus). A command of classical text and experience in repertory is a great plus.

The follow roles are already cast, please do not submit for these roles: Macbeth/Richard II, Lady Macbeth, Lady Macduff/ Queen.

All other roles are available, please only submit materials for one role, you will be considered for all appropriate roles.

The doubling below is tentative and will be adjusted depending on the right fit for the actors in both plays.

MEN:

King Duncan / John of Gaunt: 55-80, old and frail, need great command of classical text.

Ross / Duke of York: 40-65, older, noble, conscience-driven.

Macduff / Mowbray: 40-55, grounded, earthy, forceful when necessary.

Seyton-3rd Murderer / Northumberland: 40-55, cold, calculating, dangerous, will do anything to achieve their ends.

Porter / Gardener: 30-70, need an actor with great comic chops.

Banquo / Bolingbroke: 30-45, masculine presence with a wry and selective sense of humor.

Prince Malcolm / Aumerle: 25-35, upward climbers, strong intellect and compassion, mature despite their relative youth.

Prince Donalbain / Bushy: 18-24, youthful and in power, on the brink of danger and death.

Fleance / Macduff’s son: 10-14, young performers who MUST have classical experience

Two murderers: 25-50, mercenary actors, the 1st very intelligent, the 2nd not so much

Male Ensemble: Thanes / Lords – open to all ages and types

WOMEN:

The Weird Sisters: open to ALL ages, ethnicities and types - should be attractive and repulsive simultaneously (deformities, asymmetries, birthmarks, strange voices) - a collection of women outcast by society, who resort to taking revenge on those whom the society favors.

Duchess of Gloucester: 60-80, recently widowed, her husband was murdered by a lord hired by the King himself, this woman is made of iron, and despite her ill health, will do everything in her power to get revenge

Duchess of York: 55-75, great comic chops needed, the other side of the coin from the Duchess of Gloucester, very similar intensity and passion, but played for laughs, an incredibly protective mother who will stop at nothing to save her son, will completely ignore status, societal norms, etc.

Queen’s Ladies: 25-35, young, sweet, incredibly supportive and loyal friends to their Queen
