PREPARATION
Please sing a song in the style of the show that best shows range and acting ability. Bring sheet music in correct key. Score will be provided if singing from the show. Bring headshot and resume STAPLED together. Accompanist provided. NO a capella.

BREAKDOWN
There is an offer out for the role of LOLA. However, we are still serioulsy open to other submissions.
Anyone interested in playing an ANGEL must attend the ECC for dancers. All others in the show are singers that move.
CHARLIE PRICE - Male, late 20s - early 30s. Sings C3-B4. Just out of university, a really nice guy who has no clue what to do with the rest of his life. He’s handsome, lovable, but there’s a temper right under the skin. Henpecked by his girlfriend and a little lost. Must be a strong actor, have a great rock belt, and move well.
LOLA/SIMON – OFFER PENDING but we are still accepting submissions. Male, early 30s, African-American. Sings C3-B4 (with one top C). An emotionally and physically challenging role that requires absolute star presence. Must have strong comedic ability and feel comfortable wearing everything from full glamour drag to nothing but boxing trunks. Must have a killer voice with power blues and gospel chops. Must move well.
LAUREN - Female, 20s. Sings Bb3-F#5. Beautiful, quirky, funny, smart, working class girl, who is practical and focused. Works in shoe factory with Charlie. Has bad luck with men. Seeking terrific comedic actor with strong pop belt.
NICOLA - Female, 20s. Sings Bb3-F#5. Charlie's girlfriend since school. Sophisticated and glamourous. Steel willed, she is a driven and uncompromising social climber. She knows what she wants and goes for it. Must have a great pop voice.
DON - Male, 30s – 40s. Sings C3-F4 (must have a strong falsetto to D5 for the Finale). Lola’s nemesis. Burly hyper-masculine bear of a factory worker. Has a menacing physicality. Least likely to be seen on a runway in kinky boots. Must be a strong actor.
GEORGE - Male, 40s-50s. Sings C3-F4. Factory manager keeping up traditions. Reserved and tightly wound.
SIMON SR. – African American. 40’s-50’s. Lola’s father. An unforgiving tower of anger. Appears in the opening sequence and once in Act 2. Otherwise, will double as playing a pub patron, factory worker etc. for the rest of the show.
YOUNG CHARLIE - Boy, to play 10 years old. This is our lead as a ten year old boy. Lost, quiet, reflective. He works in the opening and closing sequences. Must have a great voice. Casting of this role will depend on who is cast as Charlie, so all types are encouraged to audition.
YOUNG LOLA - Boy, to play 10 years old, African-American. MUST BE UNDER 60 INCHES. This is Lola as a ten year old boy whose father wants him to be a boxer, but he already knows he’s destined to wear high heels. Must have a great voice and be comfortable wearing high heels during the show.
THE ANGELS - 20’s–30’s. These are the six drag performers from The Blue Angel Nightclub who perform with Lola. Actors with star quality and personality. Must be versatile and terrific singers (with a contemporary pop/rock/R&B belt)and dancers (required to dance in heels). Tumbling and acro skills a plus (one angel will back handspring and another does a tour into splits). Three Angels sing to C♯5 and three sing to A4. One of the angels must have a very high, strong pop tenor belt for the song “IN THIS CORNER”. Please note: One ANGEL is cast and is also the Dance Captain.
FEATURED ENSEMBLE
TRISH - 40’s–50’s. Sings B♭3–D5 and must have strong rock/pop belt. Factory worker who has been there longer than any of the other women. A lot of life experience and a lot of responsibility–this shows in her face. Comedy chops.
PAT- 30’s. Sings B♭3–F♯5 and must be strong pop/rock soprano. Officious office manager who will let loose her wild side when allowed.
MR. PRICE - 40’s–50’s. Sings B♭2–G4 and must have a good voice. Charlie’s father and owner of the shoe factory. Appears in the opening and closing sequence as well as playing a pub patron, factory worker etc for the rest of the show.
HARRY - 20’s–30’s. Sings E3–C4. A contemporary of Charlie’s, but his opposite. Harry is successful, self-aware, confident and carefree. Must have a great rock voice. Also plays a Factory Worker etc.
RICHARD BAILEY - 30’S-40’s. Nicola’s Boss. An overtly attractive and successful man.
ENSEMBLE - 20’s–50’s. The men and women of the ensemble must be excellent pop/rock singers. They will play factory workers, pub patrons etc. Factory workers should look like real, everyday people and be able to move well.
