IN THIS HOUSE: In this melodic and poignant chamber musical, two couples—one at the beginning, the other at the end of their time together—meet accidentally, and spend an evening together in a now-deserted house on a wintry New Year’s Eve. Intimate and personal, In This House touches people no matter where they are in their own lives, evoking the universal experience of being in love and bringing audiences deeply inside the challenges and rewards of navigating a relationship.

Seeking:

Johnny D’Amato:

Late 20s-early 30’s. Tenor. Low A-high G#. Italian-American, from a big family. A police officer, because that was essentially the family business. He wants kids, a house with a backyard—the works. Easy-going, traditional, and kind, but not always willing to make his own choices.

Henry Arden:

60s-80s. Baritone. Low G to high F. Big-hearted, strong, comfortable with physical activity and working with his hands—he built the house he lived in with his wife. When things are awkward, he passes around his flask. Former baseball player.

Annie Freidkin:

Late 20s to early 30s. Soprano. Low A to high G. Adventurous and eager to see the world, and to do good in the world. She’s confident about her work; less confident about her life and saying what she wants. When she falls in love, it surprises her. She is wary of commitment.

Luisa Arden:

60s-80s. Alto. Low G to high F. Presbyterian. She’s radiant, but she dismisses the compliment. Gracious and warm with a sly sense of humor, but emotionally contained.
