Stylistically this play is Ayckbourn meets Stoppard meets Chekhov meets Hamlet
Seeking:
Felix:
Early/mid 30s. British Dialect. Preferably a little pudgy. He is a highly intelligent, socially inept astrophysicist. The role was originally played by Simon Russell Beale. Ten years ago Eddie Izzard, or Kenneth Branaugh probably would have made an interesting Felix as well. Felix has an incredibly high IQ, however, he's not a cool intellectual, but a wounded emotionally immature man/boy. There is a likable self-deprecating pathos about him. He is simultaneously comic and tragic. Emotionally complex, (with a nervous stutter), he's got the sulkiness, intelligence and angst of Hamlet, a great facility with language, and an ironic, self-deprecating and biting sense of humor about himself and his family. Like Hamlet, he is struggling to make peace with the death of his father and re-marriage of his mother.
