SYNOPSIS:
HIT HER WITH THE SKATES is a coming of age story with a twist. It’s 1994 and Rock star, Jacqueline Miller has a lot to celebrate. She’s headlining her first national tour, has a hit record and is riding high. In the midst of this, she has agreed to kick off the gala re-opening of her beloved childhood roller rink, Windy City Skates. When complications hit her head on, Jacqueline takes a retrospective journey back to 1977 and finds herself again when she meets up with her 12-year-old self and all of the people who have made her who she is. From the wisdom of the Ouija Board to the power of All-Skate Saturday, HIT HER WITH THE SKATES explores the magic and hope of finding your one true love while still being true to yourself.
[WOMAN 1...JACQUELINE MILLER] - CAST - DIANA DEGARMO (lead) - Jackie at Age 29, Alto/Mezzo, Rock Star in 1994, earthy, dynamic actress who could realistically be lead rock singer. Voice models include Ann Wilson of Heart, Patty Smyth, Chrissie Hynde.
[WOMAN 2...JACKIE MILLER] (lead) Adult Actor Plays 12/13 yr old, Alto/Mezzo, Spunky, Quirky type. She has reason for low self esteem, but still has great inner strength. Young Kelly Clarkson type.
[WOMAN 3...MEGHAN BEHNKE] Adult Actor plays Age12-29, Alto, Jackie’s best friend, Cute & Athletic, Excellent Dancer, Mercurial. Tatum O’Neill (circa “Paper Moon”) type. Also plays other roles.
[WOMAN 4....MOM (REBECCA MILLER)] Age 34/51 Alto/Mezzo, Jackie’s mother, Fiery. Patricia Heaton and Rosie Perez type. Also plays other roles.
[WOMAN 5...TONYA CARSON] Adult Actor plays Age 15/32, Alto/Mezzo rock voice, Brad’s love interest, tough, smart, heavily made-up, burn-out. Linda Cardellini type (circa “Freaks & Geeks”)…also plays other roles.
[MAN 1...SCOTTY WATKINS] (Adult Actor plays Age 12/29, Baritone, Jackie’s love interest. Referred to as “Scotty the Hotty”, conventionally handsome, sweet & mild- mannered, a true heart throb. Sean Cassidy (circa “The Hardy Boys”) type.
[MAN 2...DAD (HANK MILLER)] Age 35/52, Bass, Jackie’s father, South Side Chicago to the bone, a real “pip”, comedic timing is his forte. Dan Lauria type Also plays other roles.
[MAN 3...BRAD MILLER] Adult Actor plays Age 16/33, Baritone, Jackie’s brother, fiercely protective, angst-ridden teenager. James Franco type. Also plays other roles.
