“Happy Hour” consists of three one-act plays by Ethan Coen: WAYFARERS INN, END DAYs and CITY LIGHTS.
Seeking:
Buck in Wayfarers Inn / Slava in End Days:
AVAILABLE TRACK. Two-character track. 40s, any race. Buck: Ttraveling businessman, and a player, and very opinionated. Cheats on his wife while on business trips with his friend. Has an unexpected existential streak. Actor must be able to handle big monologues. Slava: A drunk, passed out at the bar.
Tony in Wayfarers Inn / Koch in End Days:
AVAILABLE TRACK. Two-character track. Late 30s-40s, any race. Tony: Traveling businessman and serial philander. Starting to have doubts about his ways. Koch: Chatty barfly, captive to another drinker's end-of-the-world diatribe.
Lucy in Wayfarers Inn / Female Voice in End Days:
AVAILABLE TRACK. Two-character track. 20s-30s, any race. Lucy: Appealing young woman who is deeply cynical about relationships between men and women. Female Voice: Hoffman's wife.
Cabbie in City Lights / Bartender in End Days:
AVAILABLE TRACK. Two-character track. 30s, 40s. Iranian. Cabbie: Self-effacing. Has great admiration for musicians and artists, and believes he knows an artistic soul. Bartender: A guy who has listened to it all.
Japanese Waitress in Wayfarers Inn:
AVAILABLE ROLE. 20s-40's. Tough, intimidating. Must speak fluent Japanese.
The following roles/tracks are cast. Auditioning performers will be considered as understudies, and as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary.
Hoffman in End Days:
CAST. 40s, any race. Paranoid. Talks endlessly about the current state of affairs, and is full of obscure facts about technology and other things. Easily angered and frustrated.
Ted in City Lights / Man in Parka in End Days:
CAST. Two-character track. Late 30s, any race. Ted: Musician. Desperately trying to recover an important item he left in a cab. Has a very negative outlook on life and relationships.
Kim in City Lights:
CAST. Mid 20s. Devastated after getting dumped by her boyfriend. Teaches first grade, believes in following one's dreams, and hates cursing.
Marci in City Lights:
CAST. Late 20s, early 30s. Kim's best friend. Protective, strong and confrontational.
Gretchen in Wayfarers Inn:
CAST. Mid 30s. Buck's regular in that town. Has had her share of men, and always looks forward to a good time with Buck.
