SYNOPSIS

Kimberly Levaco is a sixteen-year-old girl with a rare genetic condition that accelerates her physical aging and predicts an average life-expectancy of sixteen years. After relocating to Bergen County, New Jersey with her erratic and disinterested parents, she wants to spend her (maybe limited) time chasing typical teenage experiences: acceptance from peers, first crushes, passing Biology. Her parents pledge to do better and things are looking up for Kimberly when brash Aunt Debra, a big personality with a criminal past, crashes back into the Levaco Family's life. Debra covertly recruits Kim and her classmates into a scheme to get rich by committing check fraud. In the midst of her family's beleaguered attempt at peace, her budding criminal enterprise, and trying to decide if her Bio project partner likes her, Kim experiences a health scare that forces everyone who cares about her to grapple with the reality of her condition.

NOTE: All roles require comfort moving in ice skates/rollerblades (though staging will accommodate for level of skill).

KIMBERLY LEVACO – 16 years old with an aging disease that makes her appear in her early 70s. Female-presenting diagnosed with a rare genetic condition that physically ages her four and a half times faster than is typical. Emotionally intelligent with a dry, sometimes fatalistic, teenage wit. Wants to live a life bigger than where she is currently, just wants her family to get along. NOTE: This role involves a staged, closed mouth kiss with actor playing SETH and giving a brief staged foot rub with the actor playing DEBRA LEVACO. Soprano/Mezzo Soprano

BUDDY LEVACO – Thirties, male-presenting. KIMBERLY'S dad. Drinks too much. He loves Kim and wants to do better, but just can't seem to get out of his own way. He regrets how his life has gone and imagines what could have been. Baritone

PATTIE LEVACO – Thirties, female-presenting. KIMBERLY'S mom. She is pregnant and hopes her next child to be free of the health challenges that KIMBERLY faces. She regrets the choices that have led her to where she is in life. Paranoid and a well-meaning narcissist. Mezzo Soprano with low register

DEBRA LEVACO – Thirties. Female-presenting. KIMBERLY'S aunt. She is blunt, funny, prone to crime, and always planning her next big scam. Hunts down her family for the security of a roof over her head. She cares about KIMBERLY, but not as much as she does herself. NOTE: This role involves receiving a brief staged foot rub from the actor playing KIMBERLY. Mezzo Soprano with high pop belt.

SETH WEETIS – 18+ to play Teens, male-presenting. KIMBERLY'S classmate and crush. Puzzle and anagram enthusiast. Sometimes speaks Elvish. He knows he's not the most popular kid and is mostly unbothered by it. He is sweet, anxious, and not always fast to pick up social cues. Crushes on KIMBERLY. He wants to understand the struggles of her condition but can't. Plays a brief tuba solo (can be taught). NOTE: This role involves a staged, closed mouth kiss with actor playing KIMBERLY. Baritenor

SYNOPSIS

Written by Michael O. Smith, this one-man show explores the life and times of Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States. Born in New York City in 1858 into one of the city's prominent families, Roosevelt forged a public life as vigorous as it was varied: reformer, soldier, conservationist, governor, president, and, later, Nobel Peace Prize recipient. As president, he positioned the federal government as an arbiter between capital and labor — challenging powerful corporate interests while insisting on a Square Deal for working Americans and the public good. Married twice and the father of six, Roosevelt also regarded family life as central to his happiness, once writing that he had the happiest home life of any man whom I have ever known.

SEEKING:

THEODORE ROOSEVELT JR – The 26th President of the United States on his 60th birthday. Male-presenting. Direct to the point of blunt, but with a gleeful sense of humor. Unflinching in turning his sharp wit and intellect on all subjects, including himself. He believes the job of a human being is to step into the arena, get dirty, take risks, and choose action over cynicism: Dare mighty things or get out of the way. At times, fully inhabiting the adventurous Rough Rider reputation for which he was famous. At other times, vulnerable and reflective as he talks about family and his personal joys and tragedies.

THEODORE ROOSEVELT JR ALTERNATE – See above. Currently scheduled to perform at least 2 shows/week and understudy for the other performances.

SYNOPSIS – A DARK ROMANTIC COMEDY

Lorraine and Stu are Upper West Side empty nesters who have made a comfortable life together built on personal and professional success. But, as their 25th wedding anniversary looms, something isn't sitting right. Maybe it's just a little boredom — but maybe it's a more significant discontentment. Attempting to explore and alleviate this unnamed restlessness, both turn to technology — to A.I. What begins as a darkly funny foray into the awkward particulars of building an online companion quickly becomes a treacherous exploration of the tenuous interplay between technology and humanity.

SEEKING:

LORRAINE LANGER – Female-presenting, early 50s. Married to STU for nearly 25 years. A celebrated career photographer, mother, and Upper West Side empty nester who loves her family but is quietly shaken by how disconnected she feels from the life she has built. Smart, perceptive, restless, funny, and emotionally guarded. Skeptical of A.I. at first, she is nevertheless drawn toward the possibility of being seen, desired, and understood by something — or someone — outside the familiar patterns of her marriage.

STU LANGER – Male-presenting, early 50s. Married to LORRAINE for nearly 25 years. An Upper West Side empty nester who believes he is mostly content with his marriage and family life, even as he fails to recognize how far Lorraine has drifted from him. Anxious about technology, suspicious of the rise of A.I., and easily pulled into online rabbit holes, Stu nevertheless finds himself tempted by the same digital intimacy he fears. Funny, defensive, affectionate, and vulnerable beneath his dread.

GERALD – Male-presenting, early 50s. Married to TACY. Stu and Lorraine's neighbor and Stu's best friend. Blunt, comic, candid, and a little rough around the edges, Gerald has weathered difficult chapters in his own marriage and is more willing than Stu to talk openly about desire, disappointment, and unconventional solutions. His confidence may mask hard-earned lessons, but he genuinely wants Lorraine and Stu to find their way back to each other.

TACY – Female-presenting, early 50s. Married to GERALD. Lorraine's neighbor and closest friend. Opinionated, warm, sharp, and unflappably loyal, Tacy prides herself on having an honest marriage and is not shy about saying exactly what she thinks. She wants to support Lorraine without enabling choices that disturb her, and her comic directness should sit alongside real concern for the people she loves.

A.I. MEN – Male-presenting, around Lorraine's age. The theatrical manifestations of Lorraine's A.I. companions — tailored projections of attention, charm, wit, flirtation, and emotional availability. These roles should feel seductive, specific, and slightly uncanny: not robots, but heightened versions of the connection Lorraine longs for. Moves quickly between comic precision, romantic allure, and the unsettling artificiality beneath the fantasy.

A.I. WOMEN – Female-presenting, around Stu's age. The theatrical manifestations of Stu's A.I. companions — responsive, disarming, flattering, and calibrated to bypass his skepticism. These roles should not feel mechanical; they are vivid, human-seeming projections that expose Stu's loneliness, curiosity, vanity, and fear of being left behind. Possesses comic agility, warmth, and an ability to suggest something slightly destabilizing beneath the charm.

SYNOPSIS

In a Japanese garden, four isolated people cross paths at moments when their lives are cracking open. Grace Wheeler is a travel writer who never travels, now facing a frightening breast cancer diagnosis. Haruki Sakamoto is a Japanese architect hired to design a tea house, but he cannot find the shape of it — or the courage to say what he feels. Kat Lane is a homeless seventeen-year-old runaway hiding beneath the garden's weeping willow. Tommy Z is a tattoo artist whose gift for seeing people clearly is complicated by his own grief and addiction. As their stories begin to intertwine, the garden becomes a place of unlikely refuge: a space where illness, fear, love, damage, and tenderness can be spoken aloud. Inspired by the Leonard Cohen lyric, the play is a lyrical, humane story about brokenness, connection, and the possibility that our cracks may become the places where light enters.

Note that this play includes frank descriptions of breast cancer and its treatment, suicide, and addiction.

SEEKING:

GRACE WHEELER – Female-presenting, 46 years old. A travel writer who has built a career writing about places she has never actually visited, relying on research, imagination, and emotional insight. She volunteers as a docent in the Japanese Garden, though she is not Japanese. Intelligent, guarded, funny, and deeply lonely, Grace is forced into vulnerability when she receives a breast cancer diagnosis. Her journey is not one of simple bravery, but of learning how to be seen, helped, and loved while facing fear, illness, and uncertainty.

HARUKI SAKAMOTO – Male-presenting, Japanese, 52 years old. An accomplished architect who specializes in buildings that live in conversation with nature. Hired to design a tea house for the garden, Haruki is blocked by grief, perfectionism, and a growing attachment to Grace. Precise, private, and emotionally contained, he is a man at a personal and creative crossroads, trying to reconcile beauty, loss, duty, and desire.

KAT LANE – Female-presenting, 17 years old. A homeless runaway living beneath the weeping willow in the Japanese Garden. Hollow-eyed, wary, sharp, and resourceful, Kat wears layers of clothing that obscure her gender and help her feel protected. She is carrying both visible and invisible wounds, and her defensive humor masks deep vulnerability. Through Grace and Tommy, she begins to encounter safety, trust, and the possibility of being cared for. (Also plays: Med Tech, Akiko Yamamoto)

TOMMY Z – Male-presenting, 39 years old. A tattoo artist with a rough, intimidating exterior and a profoundly generous heart. Tommy has an unusual gift for seeing what people need to reveal, protect, or transform, and for translating that into images on their skin. He is connected to the play's themes of scars, survival, and chosen identity, while also carrying his own grief and relationship to addiction.
