Please prepare a short monologue representative of the style of the show/role for which you prefer to be considered. Sides (and a reader) will also be provided at the audition. Visually-impaired performers may request an advance copy of sides when making an audition appointment.

Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

“Second Stage” Productions (SPT Agreement):

WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION by Agatha Christie. Dir TBA. 1st reh: 6/16. Runs 6/29-7/24.

In this production of the play, the Playhouse is taking a cue from the forward that Agatha Christie wrote, and re-conceiving the production to allow for audience involvement in the action of the play and for actors to play multiple roles. No changes will be made to Christie's original script.

Seeking seven men and two women to play the following character types:

Greta:

Sir Wilfred’s typist. Adenoidal girl with a good opinion of herself.

Carter:

Sir Wilfred’s chief clerk, a punctual and diligent worker.

Mr. Mayhew:

Typical middle-aged solicitor, shrewd and rather dry and precise in manner.

Leonard Vole:

About 27. Likable, friendly young man. Accused of the murder of Miss French.

Sir Wilfred Robarts:

Barrister hired by Vole to defend him. Very intelligent and well-spoken.

Inspector Hearn:

Vole’s arresting officer, and ead detective in the case against him.

Plain-Clothes Detective:

Inspector Hearn’s partner.

Romaine

German woman. Vole’s wife. Has a great personality, but very quiet. Her voice has a strangely ironic inflection.

Mr. Meyers, Prosecutor, Dr. Wyatt, Police Surgeon, Janet McKenzie, Housekeeper, Mr. Clegg, Laboratory Asst., The Other Woman, Mysterious Woman, Court Usher, Court Stenographer, Warder, Judge’s Clerk, Barristers, Jury Members, Policemen, Clerk of Court, Mr. Justice Wainwright.

SHEAR MADNESS by Paul Portner. Dir: Bruce Jordan. 1st reh: 7/19. Runs 8/3-9/4. May extend indefinitely.

Tony Whitcomb:

The very “out”, flamboyant and outspoken owner of the salon.

Barbara DeMarco:

The not-so-smart, busty stylist.

Mrs. Shubert:

The stuffy upper-crust matron.

Eddie Lawrence:

The shady antiques dealer.

Nick O’Brien:

Man. The senior cop.

Mickey Thomas:

Man. The junior cop. A dim bulb.

Mainstage Productions (CORST Agreement):

THE MOUSETRAP by Agatha Christie. Dir: Don Stephenson. 1st reh: 8/2. Runs 8/18-9/11.

Story of a group of strangers stranded in a boarding house during a snow storm. One of them is a murderer.

Mollie Ralston:

Early – mid 30s. She and her husband are the proprietors of Monkswell Manor. Wife of Giles.

Giles Ralston:

Early – mid 30s. Arrogant and attractive.

Christopher Wren:

Early - mid 20s. Wild-looking, neurotic. Has a childish manner.

Mrs. Boyle:

Late 50s or early 60s. Spinster. Large, imposing, bad-tempered.

Major Metcalf:

Man, mid 50s or 60s. Retired army major. Square-shouldered.

Miss Casewell:

Woman, mid 30s. Manly.

Mr. Paravicini:

“Foreign”, late 60s - early 70s. Has a wild mustache.

Detective Sergeant Trotter:

Man, mid 30s - mid 40’s. Cheerful, commonplace. Has a slight Cockney accent.

DOUBT by John Patrick Shanley. Dir: Vincent Marini. 1st reh: 10/18. Runs 11/3-11/20.


Set in a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, where a strong-minded woman wrestles with conscience and uncertainty as she is faced with concerns about one of her male colleagues.

Sister Aloysius:

50s - late 60s.

Father Flynn:

30s - mid 40s.

Sister James:

20s.

Mrs. Muller:

African American, late 30s – mid 40s.
