Enter Laughing: The Musical is based on Stein’s play, from the semi-autobiographical novel by Carl Reiner. The musical, originally titled So Long, 174th Street, is about the journey of young aspiring actor David Kolowitz as he tries to free himself from overly protective parents and girlfriends, while struggling to meet the challenge of a lack of talent in 1930s New York City.

Seeking actors of all ethnicities for the following:

Angela Marlowe:

Female, Early 30s to early 40s. Marlowe’s Daughter and star of the theatre company. She is overly seductive, poetic and passionate. She survives on the passion of her art; she thinks she’s deeper than she is. Considers herself a brilliant actress. She is beautiful, but there is something slightly off about her. The role requires a bold actress with great comedic timing (think Madeline Kahn). Mezzo/belt.

Marvin:

Male, 20s. David’s quirky, excitable best friend. Good natured and supportive, he will do anything to help David achieve his dreams. Baritone/Tenor. Seeking both Equity or Non-Equity actors for this role.

Miss B:

Female, late 20s to late 30s. David’s dream woman. His first big crush. She is beautiful and glamorous. She is the receptionist at the Hat Company where David makes his deliveries. Soprano. Seeking both Equity and Non-Equity actresses for this role.
