Please prepare a short song that shows off range and personality. Bring sheet music in the appropriate key; a pianist will be provided.

SEEKING:

[ELVIS] Male, 20-30. Actor/singer/guitar player to portray Elvis in his 20s at the beginning of his career; must be familiar with his music and able to play guitar; should sound and look somewhat like Elvis without being an “impersonator”.

[CARL PERKINS] Male, 25-35. Actor/singer/guitar player (lead guitar); he was the American pioneer of rockabilly music and best known for his song “Blue Suede Shoes”; must be an excellent lead guitarist.

[JOHNNY CASH] Male, 20-30. Actor/singer/guitar player to portray Johnny cash at the dawn of his epic career; must be familiar with his music and able to play guitar; tall; should sound and look somewhat like Johnny without being an “impersonator”.

[SAM PHILLIPS] Male, 25-40. Excellent actor; “Father of Rock’n’Roll” and founder of Sun Records who discovered Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and many others including Roy Orbison and B.B. King; a towering and charismatic figure in American music.

[DYANNE] Female, 18-30. Excellent actor and singer; she was an aspiring singer and Elvis’s girlfriend; attractive; great singer with a wide range; sings solos and back-up throughout the show; sings “Fever” in her alto range and covers the high soprano part of “Riders In The Sky” (Johnny Cash song).

All performers should move well and be adept with boy band choreography.

SEEKING:

[MATTHEW] Male, 18-28. Extremely attractive, clean-cut, well-built, charismatic lead singer of the AltarBoyz. A good-natured heartthrob who oozes confidence. The big brother figure to the rest of the band. Pop tenor with falsetto.

[MARK] Male, 18-28. The sensitive one. Attractive, sweet and slight of build. A winning, devilish sense of humor beneath an innocent demeanor. He may have a major crush on Matthew. High pop tenor.

[LUKE] Male, 18-28. The attractive bad boy. Streetwise, with urban inflections and mannerisms, but actually from the suburbs. He doesn't come across as being exceptionally smart, but has a heart of gold. Pop tenor.

[JUAN] Male, 18-28. The passionate, sexy Latin lover of possible Puerto Rican descent, but not so sure, as he has never met his parents. Endearing, enthusiastic champion of the underdog. An orphan and has always felt like an outsider. Spanish accent. Pop tenor.

[ABRAHAM] Male, 18-28. The Jewish member of the band who is along for the ride, never feels like he fits in, but he might be the only one who truly gets what it's like to be an Altar Boy. Affable and upbeat, he fell into the AltarBoyz by accident. Pop tenor.

SEEKING:

[NELLIE FORBUSH] Female, 20s. An optimistic and uncomplicated Navy nurse from Arkansas who falls in love with Emile. When she learns of his past and his family, Nellie struggles with her conflicting views on race and marriage, and must learn compassion and acceptance to lead the life she feels is right. Must be a strong actor/singer who has subtle comedic timing and moves very well. Strong Mezzo – Ab3-C5.

[EMILE DE BECQUE] Male, 40s. Wealthy, cultured, dignified, attractive and self-made French plantation owner. In spite of the character’s worldliness and sophistication, actor must be capable of revealing the darker side of a man who once committed murder in self-defense. Strong Baritone – A2-E4.

[NGANA] Female, 9-13. Emile’s daughter of mixed race, Pacific Islander. Smart child who adores her father and speaks French. Good actor and singer. Vocal Range: D4-C5.

[JEROME] Male, 7-10. Emile’s son of mixed race. Pacific Islander. Smart child who adores his father and speaks French. Good actor and singer. Vocal Range: D4-C5.

[HENRY] Male, 20s-30s. Emile’s native servant. Pacific Islander. Provides security and a watchful eye. Speaks French.

[BLOODY MARY] Female, 40s. A shrewd Tonkinese souvenir dealer who is trying to find her daughter an American husband. She is a brassy, self-confident hustler holds her own amongst the cocky American soldiers. Must be a strong comedian with lots of personality. Strong Mezzo – B3-C4.

[LIAT] Female, early 20s. Bloody Mary’s beautiful Polynesian daughter. Delicate and pure. Falls in love with Lt. Cable. Speaks French.

[LUTHER BILLIS] Male, 20s-30s. A masculine, yet mediocre entrepreneur and sailor. He has an eye for Nellie, whose friendship reveals his sensitive, puppy dog side. Must be a strong comedian. Stubborn but loveable, comic character. Marine with no respect for authority. Baritone - B2-D4.

[LT. JOSEPH CABLE] Male, 20s. A young, formal, masculine, and attractive officer who falls in love with Liat. His rejection of her forces him to come to grips with this own prejudices and insecurities. Bari-Tenor – D3-G4.

[CAPT. GEORGE BRACKETT] Male, 30s-50s. The commanding officer; highest-ranking officer on the island.

[CMDR. WILLIAM HARBISON]Male, 30s-40s. Brackett’s executive officer, second in command on the island.
