OR
ONCE IN A LIFETIME
Director: Mark Rucker
By: George S. Kaufman & Moss Hart
1st Rehearsal:12/1/11. Runs: 1/4/12 – 2/29/12
Synopsis:
Out-of-work New York stage performers May, Jerry and George, head to Hollywood to make their fortune teaching silent movie stars how to speak and articulate with the onset of the “Talkies.” By Broadway luminaries Kaufman and Hart, this hilarious screwball spoof melds the worlds of theatre and film in brilliant style and became the basis for Singin’ in the Rain.
YENTL
Director: Gordon Greenberg
By Leah Napolin and Isaac Bashevis Singer
Based on short story by: Isaac Bashevis Singer
1st Rehearsal: 12/15/11. Runs: 1/18/12 – 4/26/12
Synopsis:
In 19th century Eastern Europe, options for young women are few, and the study of Torah and Talmud are forbidden. Yentl’s only hope of pursuing her dreams is to disguise herself as a boy in order to learn. But when she falls in love, she must decide whether or not to reveal the truth. For everyone who has wanted to do something and was told they couldn’t, and for everyone who has loved the wrong person for the right reason, this beautifully written play with music resonates with pure magic.
FALLEN ANGELS
Director: Peter Amster
By Noël Coward
1st Rehearsal: 1/24/12. Runs: 3/7/12 – 5/13/12
Synopsis:
This brilliant comedy is Noël Coward at his best – sharp, witty and utterly sophisticated. Julia and Jane are the best of friends. Both are married to loving (if slightly dull) husbands, both are embarking on middle age with a little regret and both have a secret past – they both had an affair with a dashing Frenchman named Maurice. Now, Maurice is back in town, and with their husbands away, they embark on an evening of lusty anticipation and hilarious inebriation as they await Maurice’s arrival.
