ASF is casting a company of actors to play multiple roles in productions of The 39 Steps, Travels with My Aunt, Henry VIII and The Merry Wives of Windsor. The following are character breakdowns for some of the currently available roles in these three plays. SOME but not ALL actors will appear in more than one play.

THE 39 STEPS

Adapted by: Patrick Barlow

Director: Nancy Rominger

1st Rehearsal: 12/30/11. Runs: 1/29/12 – 5/19/12

Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret:

(Female, 30s). Beautiful femme fatale adept at physical comedy. Annabella Schmidt: Mysterious, paranoid German spy; Pamela: fiercely intelligent, feisty. Determined to be no one’s fool. Margaret: innocent, shy woman trapped in an oppressive, abusive marriage.

HENRY VIII

Director: Robert Richmond

1st Rehearsal: 2/8/12. Runs: 3/9/12 – 5/20/12

King Henry VIII:

(Male, 35-45). Requires an actor with immense charm and charisma, able to speak heightened text with aplomb. This is NOT the later in life, rotund Henry. Must be physically attractive and athletic, showing both a deeply troubled and aggressive nature. He must be able to gain both our sympathy and disgust.

Anne Bollen:

(Female, late 20s-30s). Charming and attractive. Must be able to play the status of a potential Queen mixed with the ambition and flirtation of a coquette. Dance ability is a plus.

THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR

Director: Diana Van Fossen

1st Rehearsal: 3/10/12. Runs: 4/15/12 – 5/18/12

Falstaff:

(Male, mid 40s). PLEASE SUBMIT ALL ETHNICITIES. A warrior, the size of a defensive lineman football player, a great drinker and womanizer, very resourceful. Can be an actor of large size, or can be padded. Has attained rank by his wits. Prototypes: Chris Farley, Bernie Mac, John Candy, Jon Belushi.

Mistress Page:

(Female, late 30s-early 40s). Middle class and fun-loving. Warm hearted and intelligent with a youthful mindset.

TRAVELS WITH MY AUNT

Adapted by: Giles Havergal

Director: Geoffrey Sherman

1st Rehearsal: 1/6/12. Runs: 2/5/12 – 5/19/12

Roles in this production will be cast from the company and also possibly from those cast as Falstaff of Henry VIII
