BREAKDOWN
ANNE MARIE: Female. 60s. The maid who has continued to work in the house, raising Nora and Torvald’s children as her own. She is trying to keep the waters calm for everyone’s sanity but struggles with her fundamental disagreements with Nora’s choices. Practical. Shrewd, slightly worn down, quick-witted, tough, funny.
EMMY: Female. 20s. Nora’s daughter. Young and in love. Quick-witted, spirited, strong. She’s perfectly well-adjusted and very smart. She has the drive and wit of her mother, but the conservative values of her father. Mature. Confident in her views. She should think she’s the smartest person in the play. She’d be a great lawyer in court.
