Seeking the following only (read notice carefully; submit only if you are right for one or more these roles and you are free to work throughout the contract dates):

Note: This is a traditional production of A Christmas Carol. All actors must have good ears, authentic BRITISH accents and a great sense of language. Many of these roles sing, so musicality is a plus.

Mrs. Dilber:

30s - early 40s.Scrooge’s dithering servant. Working-class London. Quirky, funny, resigned and exhausted. A character, a working class eccentric. Role for a comedienne with heart. Must have a convincing BRITISH accent.

Lilly / Belle:

20s - early 30s. Lilly: Fred’s wife. Kind, graceful young woman. Tenacious, and refuses to give up on Scrooge because she realizes how much family means to Fred. Belle: Scrooge’s fiancée. Leaves him because of his obsession with money. Fiercely idealistic. There is a sadness about her; she holds people to high standards and has been disappointed. Must sing and move extremely well. Chest mix to D. Must have a convincing BRITISH accent. Audition will include singing.

Young Scrooge:

Early 20s. Scrooge before he is corrupted; a conflicted youth, torn between the need for financial security and the desire to connect with other human beings. At this point, he still possesses a sense of fun and humor and, most importantly, he is still redeemable. Attractive, charming, intelligent, well-spoken. Must have a convincing BRITISH accent.

Bob Cratchit:

30s. Scrooge’s clerk, a simple man with a great heart. Cratchit has been worked to the bone, but still has a twinkle in his eye and hope in his heart. Once a lively man, he now worries about putting food on the table. Bowed, but not broken. Must have a convincing BRITISH accent. Should be comfortable singing.

Mrs Cratchit:

30s. Caring but fiery, she will defend her family at any price. She is the glue that holds her family together. Nurturing, warm, the salt of the earth. Must have a convincing BRITISH (working-class London) accent.

Christmas Present:

African American woman, 30s. Infectious spirit and warmth. Must have a real presence and sense of humor, wit, and mischief. Though maternal and earthy, she is powerful, and has an implicit understanding of right and wrong. Must have a convincing BRITISH accent which does not drift to the Caribbean.
