Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts' (ACUA) monthly Signature Artist Series for February starts this Friday February 2 and runs until Wednesday February 21. The series features Ukrainian artists' work on display in ACUA's public viewing gallery at 10554 110 Street, Unit 100 during regular gallery hours. The Opening Night Reception is this Friday February 2

February's exhibit includes works by painter Olha Frolova, Liubov Kostetska, Olya Lisova. 

Olha Frolova is an artist from Kyiv, Ukraine, now living and creating in Edmonton. Drawing has always been her hobby and for the past seven years it has been her career. In her art she presents her loves, her worries, and her thoughts and since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of independent Ukraine she represents more of her beautiful country within her drawings.

Liubov Kostetska was born Ternopil, Ukraine and now resides in Edmonton with her family. Her art portrays different Ukrainian historical events and have been sold in Ukrainian diasporas is countries such as Poland, Germany, USA, Canada, and Italy. After the 2014 Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine Liubov had the idea to custom paint clothes in a national style- each one with its own unique meaning.

Olya Lisova is a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a Bachelors of Fine Art (Honours) degree, along with diplomas in visual communication and design from UAlberta and MacEwan University. She has received awards for her work from the Society of Graphic Designers of Alberta, Alberta Culture, and UManitoba. Exhibits include Pysanka for Peace, Art Walk, APEGGA Summit Awards, Strathcona Place Gallery, Edmonton City Hall, and ACUA.


ACUA's Signature Artist Series is a unique monthly artist exhibit dedicated to showcasing Edmonton-based artists of Ukrainian origin and descent. Art is displayed through a variety of mediums, telling stories of Ukrainian family, culture, and experiences. 

Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts facilitates and encourages greater appreciation and awareness of the Ukrainian arts and their cultural significance to the greater Alberta community. Through exhibitions, tours, festivals, educational programs, workshops, and special projects, ACUA promotes growth and provides support to Ukrainian arts and artists living in Alberta.
