August in Des Moines: Gear Up for Fall
August is caught between the relaxing stretch of summer and the buildup to the hustle back to school season. Luckily, there is a wonderful play you can see this month that will transform you to a different time and place.
StageWest Theater Company is reviving one of the most talked about plays in the company's history with Bill W. and Dr. Bob. The play tells the story of William Wilson (Bill W.), a stockbroker who becomes a drunk after the 1929 stock market crash, and Dr. BoB Smith (Dr. Bob), an Ohio surgeon and longtime alcoholic. The men eventually meet and form a relationship that blossoms into the formation of Alcoholics Anonymous. The StageWest production of Bill W. and Dr. Bob runs through August 11th at the Stoner Theater. For ticket information visit StageWest Theater Company.
August is most likely the last quiet month before theater season kicks into gear. So see Bill W. and Dr. Bob this month as a warm up to a busy fall.
