Arvada Center to Host 40th Anniversary Celebration This September

Patrons and community members will have the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look at the Arvada Center during a 40th Anniversary community celebration on Thursday, September 15 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m..

The Arvada Center's 40th anniversary also marked a historic transition that took place in July, when the Center moved from the City of Arvada to its own governing body. This Open House showcases the art that has filled the center for the past 40 years, as well as what's to come in the future. The Center's galleries, rehearsals, ceramics studio and education classes will be open to show the breadth of artistic work the Center is known for.

Visitors can peek in on dance classes, tour the Center and explore the galleries. The ceramics studio will offer guided tours by in-house artist John Hamilton, and an Arts Day workshop will be open for participation. An open working rehearsal of Tartuffe will take place from 7 - 8 p.m., giving a glimpse into the opening production of the Arvada Center's Black Box Repertory season.

The Open House coincides with the opening of the Center's fall gallery exhibition, Looking Back/Moving Forward. The exhibition tells the story of the Center's gallery as well as providing a glimpse into the future of art in Colorado. Looking Back: 40 Years/40 Artists, in the Main Gallery, features art representative of the Center's forty-year history. In the Upper and Theatre Galleries, Moving Forward: The Next 40 Years showcases early to mid-career local artists.
