WAITRESS Tour Reveals Two Local 'Lulus' for Columbus Run

By: Oct. 25, 2017

The Tony-nominated musical WAITRESS, which will be playing the Ohio Theatre November 7-12, has announced the names of the two young local girls selected to perform the role of Lulu during the Columbus engagement.

North Linden resident Beatrix Pellerite, age 5, and Worthington area resident Isabella Bullock, also age 5, have been selected to play Lulu for the eight Columbus performances of WAITRESS. Described as a sweet and carefree young girl, Lulu is the daughter of the show's main character and appears in the show's final scene. Both girls will alternate the role of Lulu throughout the Columbus run of the show. Exact performance dates for each girl will be determined at a later time.

Both girls were chosen via an audition process held at the Ohio Theatre on October 3. More than 20 girls participated in the auditions, which were presided over by the assistant director of WAITRESS.

Tickets are now on sale for the CAPA and Broadway in Columbus presentation of WAITRESS at the Ohio Theatre November 7-12. Tickets start at $34 and can be purchased at the CAPA Ticket Center (39 E. State St.), all Ticketmaster outlets, and online at www.ticketmaster.com. To purchase by phone, call (614) 469-0939 or (800) 745-3000. Orders for groups of 20 or more may be placed by calling (614) 719-6900.

The performance schedule is as follows: Tuesday, November 7, 7:30pm; Wednesday, November 8, 7:30 pm; Thursday, November 9, 7:30 pm; Friday, November 10, 8 pm; Saturday, November 11, 2 pm & 8 pm; and Sunday, November 12, 1 pm & 6:30 pm.

Brought to life by a groundbreaking, all-female creative team, this irresistible new hit features original music and lyrics by six-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles ("Brave," "Love Song"), a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam), choreography by Lorin Latarro (Les Dangereuse Liasons, Waiting for Godot), and direction by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus (Hair, Pippin, Finding Neverland).

Inspired by Adrienne Shelly's beloved film, WAITRESS tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town's new doctor may offer her a chance at a fresh start, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness. But Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life.
