TRI to Present 2013 Lecture with Chicago Tribune's Chief Theatre Critic Chris Jones, 9/11

The Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee Theatre Research Institute (TRI) presents the Annual TRI Lecture with Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune chief theatre critic and Ohio State alumnus on Wednesday, September 11, at 4 pm in Roy Bowen Theatre, Drake Performance and Event Center, 1849 Cannon Dr.

Jones will give a lecture titled "The Last Critic Standing." In this age of Yelp!, Amazon, and Trip Advisor, amateur critics appear to have kicked seasoned professionals to the curb. Drawing from food criticism, movie criticism, and theater criticism, Jones looks at how technology has changed the profession and ponders the role of critics in the future.

Jones earned a PhD in theatre from Ohio State in 1989 and recently established the Chris Jones Collection at the TRI. This collection makes Jones' papers available to researchers from all over the world and enhances the number of collections relating to American theatrical criticism already held by the TRI.
