Shadowbox Academy to Offer Summer Boot Camp Showcase on August 5th

"This performance is one of my favorites out of the whole year," says Stacie Boord, Shadowbox Live's Education Director. "To see these students work so hard and then get up on stage for the world to see, there's just nothing like it."

The Shadowbox Academy's Summer Boot Camp is a three-week arts intensive program for high school and early college students ages 15 - 21. Participants, chosen through an audition process, attend master class workshops in the Rock Arts: rock singing and musicianship, modern dancing, and comedic acting.

"Our instructors have literally decades of experience with thousands and thousands of performances under their belts," says Boord. "That's what we're trying to pass on, the hands on experience of professional performing."

But along with learning performance disciplines, the students will also be getting a lesson in discipline itself.

"This is not a walk in the park," says Boord. "We demand a lot of these students, and to succeed in this program, it takes responsibility, dedication, and an ability to hear and apply criticism. These are skills that will take them far in any career path they choose."

At the end of a grueling three week class and rehearsal schedule, the Summer Boot Camp participants will get a chance to show off what they've learned right alongside the seasoned metaperformers of Shadowbox Live in the Summer Boot Camp Showcase, a two hour sketch comedy and rock 'n' roll show.

"This show has sold out every single year," warns Boord. "It's emotional and wonderful to watch these kids overcome their fears and become proud of themselves and what they've accomplished. Get your tickets early!!"
