Pleasure Guild Presents PETER PAN, March 8-10

By:

To raise funds for central Ohio's only pediatric hospice and palliative care program, Pleasure Guild of Nationwide Children's Hospital presents Peter Pan March 8-10, 2013 at Columbus' historic Palace Theatre, 34 West Broad Street. The annual family-friendly, Broadway-quality production benefits children for whom a cure is beyond reach.

With more than 20 years of performances at the Palace Theatre, Peter Pan is Pleasure Guild's 56th production. The annual play is Pleasure Guild's feature fund-raising event. Pleasure Guild members presented a check totaling $468,249 to the hospital in 2012. Since the organization's inception, Pleasure Guild has contributed more than $4 millionto the hospital.

Peter Pan is the tale that never ages. Children and adults alike have fallen under the spell of Neverland, a place where children can fly and where exciting adventures happen every day. Adapted for the stage more than 25 years ago, Peter Pan is well known, loved and performed worldwide. Published by Samuel French (London) it is now one of the most popular shows of all times and is a must see for all ages. The ever-popular characters will be there – Peter Pan, Wendy, John, Michael, Captain Hook and his sidekick Smee, Tiger Lily, the Lost Boys, pirates, Neverland indians, fairies, Nana the pet dog and, of course, the scary crocodile.

Tickets go on sale starting December 1 at the CAPA Ticket Office or Ticketmaster.com.

Pleasure Guild's first play, "Hansel and Gretel," was produced in 1958 at the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts. From this humble beginning, our annual play has grown into a full-scale theater production – known and respected throughout Columbus and beyond – which raises upwards of $200,000 each year for Nationwide Children's Hospital. With more than 20 years of performances at The Palace Theatre, Pleasure Guild members do it all – from marketing and public relations to costume and prop coordination. Because of state-of-the-art promotional tools and technology made available to us by the hospital and an experienced creative team, we are able to produce Broadway-quality, family friendly shows. With four public performances and one free performance given each year for more than 2,700 inner-city school children, these annual productions continue to be our leading fundraising project. Two hundred free tickets are given away for each regular performance to ensure that everyone has a chance to experience the theater experience. For some of these children, it is their first exposure to the stage. View more than 50 years of past Pleasure Guild productions.
