MadLab Theatre and Gallery was named one of 30 partner non-profit organizations in the 2010 Scion x-CHANGE program, which is a national network of local non-profits, artists and community supporters in 30 U.S. cities. As stated by Scion, "The x-CHANGE program, now in its second year, is designed to harness the passion for preserving creative opportunities and elevate localized action into a national network of non-profits, artists, retailers, and activists."

The program included two stops by Scion x-CHANGE representatives in Columbus, a web based photography art contest, Facebook contest and general fundraising matches. Total contributions from individual donators and Scion x-CHANGE matches totaled $17,030 to MadLab (with more than $13,000 coming from Scion itself).
"Small organizations do not carry the market capabilities of larger non-profits and are often ignored or undervalued by large corporate projects. But the Scion x-CHANGE Program demonstrated a huge commitment to bring about actual change and real benefit for its partner organizations," stated Jennifer Barlup, Chair of MadLab Theatre and Gallery.

The money raised by the program allowed MadLab to rebound financially from replacing the roof on its recently converted downtown venue at 227 N. 3rd Street. In addition, through challenges utilizing Facebook the organization began thinking outside of the box, raised awareness for the non-profit, and has seen its number of Facebook friends increase by over 800.
"Scion is a brand that stands for independent thinking and originality," said Steve Hatanaka, Scion auto shows and special events manager. "The Scion x-CHANGE Program recognizes that brand awareness can be more than purchasing ad space. It can be a catalyst for community support and artistic expression." Scion x-CHANGE committed a total of $60,000 to the 2010 program.
