CCT Stages GREASE, Now thru 8/16

Columbus Children's Theatre (CCT) will present Grease tonight, July 30-August 16, 2015 at Park Street Theatre located at 512 Park Street. The 2015 Summer Pre-Professional Company is comprised of actors ages 16-22. This production is directed by David Bahgat. Book, Music and Lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.

Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding "Burger Palace Boys" and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the time in this rollicking musical. Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as "Greased Lightnin'", "It's Raining on Prom Night", and "Alone at the Drive-In Movie". An 8-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals place Grease among the world's most popular musicals.

The Summer Pre-Professional Company is excited to welcome back director David Bahgat for a second summer after he directed a record breaking production of Hairspray last year. This company is composed of students from age 16-22 who are looking to develop their theatre skills in a professional setting. Says Bahgat, "The pre-professional company has been such an integral part of CCT's history. It allows the cast and crew to really be challenged in a way that trains them for how life will be in the professional theatre world. It's also a time for unity and ensemble building amongst the cast helping to develop them into not only great actors but as well a caring group of human beings."
