Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's popular Off the Hill touring series returns Sept. 30 with THE LAST FIREFLY. The fantastical story combining Japanese fairy tales and folklore runs through Oct. 29 at community centers and schools across the region, from Burlington to Price Hill to Mariemont and at Memorial Hall in Over-the-Rhine.

Cincinnati Ballet has announced a new, annual Family Series, with an inaugural production of Beauty and the Beast. The production features the Cincinnati Ballet Second Company, with dancers from the new Professional Training Division, and students from Cincinnati Ballet's Otto M. Budig Academy. Beauty and the Beast comes to the Aronoff Center, with six performances April 6-8, and a sensory-friendly performance April 8 at 10:30 am.

Designed to serve as a catalyst for open dialogue about the impact of contemporary visual art on our world, the new series will include four presentations per year beginning in October 2017. Last Poet Standing IV is a head-to-head spoken word competition which will be featured as a part of the tenth season of the Off-Broadway Theatrical Revue The Signature: A Poetic Medley Show. This 'Unorthodox SPOKEN WORD Competition' has brought the best performing artists across the Midwest to the stage! Last Poet Standing IV has a large individual grand prize of $1,000, and this summer OFP Productions will collaborate with several organizations to present LPS in the Aronoff Center's intimate and beautiful Jarson-Kaplan Theater in downtown Cincinnati at 650 Walnut Street on Friday, August 25 from 8:00 PM-11:00 PM. The Otto M. Budig Theater, the new custom-built home of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company in Over-the-Rhine, opens on September 8 with A Midsummer Night's Dream. The production runs through September 30 and is directed by Producing Artistic Director Brian Isaac Phillips. The cast features longtime resident ensemble members Matthew Lewis Johnson as Bottom, Giles Davies as Oberon, Associate Artist Miranda McGee as Titania, and Associate Artistic Director Sara Clark as Puck. The production is sponsored by Bartlett & Co, LLC. The season is funded by ArtsWave and the season sponsors are The Otto M. Budig Family Foundation and the Ohio Arts Council.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company Celebrates New Theatre with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company (CSC) has completed construction of The Otto M. Budig Theater and will be hosting a Ribbon Cutting and Welcome Celebrations Events this weekend, August 11-13, 2017.  The Official Ribbon Cutting will be at 6pm on Friday when CSC Leadership will be joined by Mayor John Cranley and Otto M. Budig out front of The Otto M. Budig Theater at 1195 Elm Street as they "cut" the ribbon using traditional Shakespeare swords and daggers!  Then guests will move inside the theater various locations in the lobby and building are dedicated and "toasted" with glasses of champagne.  This event is invite only.
