- January 31, 2018 This week, StudentsLive returned to China for the third consecutive year to bring an intensive seven-day Broadway program to students in Guangzhou. Nineteen youngsters from the Clifford International School, aged seven to twelve, joined us at the Guangzhou Seamen's Club hotel in the center of the old city to learn a half-hour show full of singing and choreography. The StudentsLive team comprises director and founder Amy Weinstein, choreographer Stephen Brotebeck, and musical director Seth Weinstein.

- January 30, 2018 Harbin, China, January 30, 2018-The winners of the inaugural International Music Competition Harbin (IMCH) were announced last week. In an all-women sweep, Nancy Zhou (25, United States) and Linzi Pan (24, China) were awarded first place in the violin and piano categories, respectively, along with cash prizes of $50,000. No first-place winner was chosen for the voice category. Svetlana Moskalenko (31, Russia) took second place and a cash prize of $30,000.

- January 26, 2018 With the last note of Brunnhilde's Immolation Scene, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) reached the conclusion of its 4-year epic journey through Wagner's Ring Cycle. The HK Phil is proud to announce the completion of these first-ever performances in Hong Kong, recorded for enjoyment and posterity by Naxos. This awe-inspiring project would never be possible without the HKSAR Government's generous support in granting the HK Phil the contestable funding for four consecutive years. In fact, the HKSAR Government not only supported this financially, but also in person, and it was a great honour to have Ms Michelle Li, Director of Leisure and Cultural Services (LCSD), and other senior members of the Home Affairs Bureau and the LCSD joining on 18th January to celebrate the end of this vast masterpiece.

- January 23, 2018 The second annual Youth Music Culture Guangdong (YMCG) drew to a close on January 19th with a six-hour marathon concert 'from Beethoven to the Unexpected.' Young musicians performed a total of 30 works, including chamber music and improvisation performances. The marathon's culminating masterpiece was Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 ('Eroica') under the baton of Music Director Michael Stern with faculty, including Artistic Director Yo-Yo Ma, at the back of their respective sections.
