State Theatre to Hold Food Drive in Conjunction with Shanghai Acrobats

After more than 50 years, the Shanghai Acrobats of the People's Republic of China has become one of the most influential and competitive acrobatic companies in China and has won numerous awards at acrobatic and circus competitions at home and abroad. The Shanghai Acrobats will perform "Shanghai Nights" at the State Theatre on Friday, November 11th.

Show time is 7:00 PM. Tickets are $30 & $15 for children 12 and under and can be purchased by visiting the State Theatre Box Office, 453 Northampton Street, Easton, by calling 1-800-999-STATE, 610.252.3132 or online at www.statetheatre.org. Sponsored B104.

The State Theatre in running a Food Drive in conjunction with this performance. Patrons who make a donation of canned or non-perishable food will receive one free Child's ticket to the performance. All donated food will stay local and be distributed to Safe Harbor Easton, which is dedicated to empowering and educating homeless men and women, and to helping them to achieve a better way of life.Offer is not valid online, only in person or on the phone. The company of Shanghai Acrobats of the People's Republic of China was founded in 1959 and belongs to the artistic entities of governmental finance allocation (state-owned enterprise). Since the 1980s, the company has been invited and successively performed in more than thirty countries including the United States, Germany, Spain, Britain, Mexico, Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan, Turkey,Canada, Indonesia, Fiji, Cameroon, Guinea and Nigeria. Through the frequency of the international tours and performances, the troupe has not only introduced Chinese acrobatic and circus art to all parts of the world, but also promoted the friendships with the peoples of various countries.

Over the last 15 years, the company and its acts have performed for the tour of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Mystere of Cirque du Soleil at Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, and Stardust's World Christmas circuses in Germany and Netherlands. From 2004 to 2010, the troupe performed as a permanent show of six months each year at Rixos Hotel in Turkey. In 2012, its forty acrobats performed a tour in Canada with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony's 52 pieces orchestra. The tour of Shanghai Acrobats of the People's Republic of China 2016 will bring the company to coast to coast performances in North America. The presentation will be the debut of "Shanghai Nights!!"
