Millbrook Playhouse Opens 2014 Season with THE WIZARD OF OZ, Now thru 6/22

We're off to see the Wizard! Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Millbrook Playhouse as they kick off their 2014 season with The Wizard of Oz. The iconic film is celebrating 75 years and Millbrook is joining in on the fun with a new and exciting production presented at the Ryan Main Stage Theatre.

"For my inaugural production, I wanted to present a classic musical in a fun and imaginative style" says new Producing Artistic Director, David Leidholdt, "with Director Alex Perez's skillful guidance, and some wonderful young talent, I think we have a perfect show that is fun for the whole family, and unique to Millbrook audiences."

The story begins when a tornado drops Dorothy and her dog Toto in an unfamiliar land, she joins together with three friends on a quest to find a brain, a heart, some courage, and most importantly, a home. With an Academy Award winning score by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg. The Wizard of Oz includes the iconic songs "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", "Munchkinland," "If I Only Had A Brain," and "We're Off To See The Wizard".

This production proudly features Mill Hall's own Kali Haines as Dorothy, along with Jake Evans (Tin Man), Richard Spitaletta (Scarecrow), Philip Bolton (Lion), Katrina Diehm (Glinda), Maren B Fischer (Wicked Witch of the West), Gavin D'Ulisse (Uncle Henry), Karen Querns (Aunt Em) Tom Lavallee (The Wizard), Andrew Brown (Toto), Jess Brookes (Ensemble), Morissa Trunzo (Ensemble), Michael Egan (Ensemble); the Munchkins in The Wizard of Oz include Madison Bair (Mill Hall), Natalie, and Meredith Brown (Lock Haven), Katlyn Nicole Boyd (Mill Hall), Kendall Eichenlaub (Jersey Shore), Sydney Glossner (Beech Creek), LilyAnn Gugino (Lock Haven), Megan Hamaty (Bellefonte), Olivia and Dane Hanna (Lock Haven), Aimee Hunsinger (Mill Hall), Victoria Marquardt (Mill Hall), Madi Meeker (Lock Haven), Ariana Newlen (Lock Haven), Jessica and Nicholas Piergallini (Lock Haven), Elaina and Elizabeth Shaffer (Jersey Shore), Colby Stoner (Beech Creek), and Mia Crowell (Lock Haven).

Directed and Choreographed by Alex Perez from the Off-Broadway hit De La Guarda, this show will leave the whole family smiling as they follow Dorothy through The Merry Old Land of Oz. Performances run today, June 12-15 & 18-22 at 7:30pm, and on June 18 at 2:00pm.

Tickets are on sale now at www.millbrookplayhouse.org, or by phone at 570-748-8083. The box office is also open Monday-Tuesday 9-5, Friday-Sunday 9 AM-9 PM. Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for students (with ID), and $8 for children (12 and under). Group rates are available.
