Hershey Area Playhouse Announces Summer 2014 Camp Classes, Running 6/16-8/1

Hershey Area Playhouse Theatre Academy is excited to announce its summer drama classes for 2014. Two different summer sessions will be held from June 16-27, 2014 and July 21- August 1, 2014.

Students entering grades 1-12 are invited to participate in this year's drama camps from June 16-27. In "Tall Tales and Big Fun," campers entering grades 1-3 will have the opportunity to explore and write different tall tales while exercising creative and imaginative thinking. Intermediate students entering grades 4-6 will focus on characters--the good, the bad, and the ugly-- and how unique character walks and gestures help create a character driven plot. Campers entering grades 7-12 can participate in "Studio and Scene Study: Genre and Style in the driver's seat" and explore theatre styles from around the world to incorporate into their own styles of acting. "Theatre for Techies" is also available for campers entering grades 8-12 interested in receiving training in lighting, sound, and design in theater.

In the second summer session, Theater in the Gardens, held from July 21- August 1, the Hershey Area Playhouse is partnering with the Hershey Gardens to hold a camp for students entering grades 4-8. Campers will learn more about character development, creative movement and theatrical combat. Inspired by the whimsical atmosphere of the Hershey Gardens, the camp will end with an original production of Peter Pan at the Hershey Gardens Amphitheater.
